With every year that passes, our home is slowly transforming into what I envisioned when we first walked through the doors. This year was filled with some big, amazing dreamy renovation projects that were 3.5 years in the making! But it was also a year where I had to focus on myself and my health a bit (hard to do!) and home projects took a lot longer than normal. But, I’m so proud of what WAS accomplished. It’s setting me up for a big 2026 filled with more larger DIY and hired out projects.
And after this year, I think it’s going to make the biggest impact yet!
2025 Room Renovations

Hallway Mudroom/Drop Station

We kicked off 2025 with our mudroom makeover. The highest traffic part of the house. When you walk into our house from the garage, you walk through this little hallway that has a drop station and doors to the downstairs bathroom and laundry room. It’s a smaller space, but we use it all day and our guests walk down here when they need to use the bathroom.
My goal for this house is to have every turn, every angle be it’s own moment. I added DIY reeded panels onto the walls, painted it my favorite warm black and added a bold wall paper. It sort of feels like a fun restaurant hallway now.
BEFORE

It’s been close to a disaster since we moved in. Our kids are in a million sports and this space is constantly filled with sports shoes, uniforms, backpacks and everything that needs to be returned to stores. It’s the ultimate drop station. So it’s time to make it feel a little more design friendly and also clean it up with some more organization.

I took the cabinets up to the ceiling and added more organization for sports clothes and shoes.
Teen Boy’s Bold Bedroom
I was hoping to have all three kids bedrooms done last year, but my middle son’s didn’t quite get done like I had planned! I revealed my teenage daughter’s classic white bedroom, then my youngest son’s moody sports bedroom. I knew I was going to do his last because it’s the largest kid room with super tall ceilings and he has a few design challenges I wanted to think through. 1) that little door leads to a hidden that we wanted to do something fun with 2) he had a very BOLD color choice, which is so far out of my comfort zone, so I needed to get creative on this one.
It was a journey and I love how it turned out! Bold, adventurous but also so chic at the same time.

I am happy to report, we have finally come to an agreement on a super fun pre-teen boys room design that we BOTH love. His bedroom is top of the list for this year and we are diving in asap! SEE THE DESIGN PLANS HERE.

One of the top priorities in this room was to have a display area for all my son’s LEGO builds. I designed this desk space to be both functional for all gaming items and also a display area. I bought all pieces from Amazon and put together this whole area for under $500!
Staircase Renovation

Now we enter the big project I hired out this year! The staircases. We have two sets of stairs in our house and it’s time for a complete overhaul. This has been a 7 month long project that I’ve hardly shown! I still have so much to catch you up on!
I wanted to give them a fresh more updated look while also keeping the character of our home. Clean lines but also a vintage European look to it.
BEFORE

The leopard print runners were fun while they lasted but they weren’t going to be long term for us. The wood railings and posts were pretty but the stain didn’t match the hardwoods anymore and it was time for something lighter. The light fixture always felt too small for this staircase, I swapped it out for a large statement chandelier. I love how you can now see the chandelier through the windows from the courtyard.

I had custom runners made that turned out absolutely gorgeous and I added these gold stair rods for a classic touch. The finial on the stairs is truly the chef’s kiss.

Exterior Projects

Every year I tackle a few new exterior projects. Last year I did a lot in the courtyard and I really want to polish it off. Last year, I built this custom planter for this little niche in the courtyard. I added in these faux spiral trees and then I went on a hunt to find the perfect outdoor mirror or artwork to complete the space.

I found the perfect large outdoor mirror that blends perfectly with the shape and aesthetic of our exterior windows and doors. I also really wanted to have our house trim painted this year but that didn’t happen. But new trim paint and glass lanterns for the front of the house are on the list for early 2026!

MORE INTERIOR UPDATES
Sometimes home updates aren’t big room renovations or before and afters, but rather slow and steady small updates. Here are a few other small room updates we did this year.

After a few years of not touching our dining room at all, I made a few updates for a fresh look. I added custom captains chairs with a neutral but fun pop of pattern, along with more of a statement centerpiece.

I also made a few changed to the seating area in the courtyard. I swapped out the outdoor rug, added a cozy bench from a different place in the house and played around with the styling a little bit.
