This small space could have been forgotten about, after all it’s just a tiny corner of our house! But this tiny corner is walked through a million times a day. It’s the entry from the garage, it’s where our laundry room is and where the only downstairs bathroom is. Which means every single guest walks down here. I wanted this small hallway to feel like an intentional design that was a bit of a surprise. Kind of like when you walk down a hallway to use the restroom at a restaurant and are caught by surprise at the decor. This very plain hallway in our house is now a big surprise. Come tour the recently finished Moody Modern Entry Mudroom Decor.
Moody Modern Entry Mudroom

Before Hallway

This is what the hallway and mudroom area looked like before! It was all beige and cream. Completely fine but I wanted it to feel more luxe and custom.
Reeded Wainscoting

I always envisioned a bold unexpected look in this hallway. You can see a peek of it from our main living space. I love that you can see just a glimpse of the bold pattern and moody decor. Just enough to make you want to know what’s down that hallway.

I added this reeded paneling to the lower half of the walls. The product was overall very easy to install there were a few things I didn’t love about it, but I do plan on using it again! To finish off the wainscoting, I added this chair rail trim to the top to polish it off.

I painted all the new trimwork and existing trim Sherwin Williams Black Magic. It’s the same color I used in our home office and our home theater room. It’s the perfect shade of warm black. I love a good color drenched room, I think it makes the whole room feel intentional and complete!

I love our knotty alder doors. They are original to the house and I think they add charm and so much contrast against the modern additions. I left them alone but swapped out all the hardware to these antique gold door knobs that I’ve been using throughout the house. I love the contrast of the wood tone against the warm black! It’s so good.

I also added these Vintage Laundry Door Signs to all the doors. Since there are 4 doors down this hallway I wanted to make it easy for guests to know which door goes where. Plus they add lots of character!
Bold Wallpaper In Hallway

I wanted a hight contrast wallpaper for the top part of the walls. Something that was very bold, neutral but also brought a huge pop of something fun an unexpected. This Brushed Ink Wallpaper was exactly what I was looking for!
Mudroom Drop Station Organization

Here is how the little drop station turned out! I ended up added an additional cabinet to the top of the built-ins to give it height. I am team “cabinets to the ceiling” in almost all cases. I think it makes the space feel taller and adds more storage.

This is truly used as a “drop station” for our kids. I know it’s not going to stay perfect forever but I do hope that this new system helps! The Gold Bird Hooks are for backpacks, the Tan Woven Baskets are for in-season sports equipment, and the Brown Woven Baskets are for shoes!

The bench area is a bit of an custom size. I found these Bench Cushions on Amazon, I put two together to create a comfy seat. However, I think I would love to have a custom one made for this space at some point!

I couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out! This space is now full of character and unique details. I love the wallpaper, the moody vibes and vintage details.

This looks great and definitely something I’d expect in a bar or restaurant. The doors look dated before but darkening everything has made them look richer and deliberate. The wallpaper works well too. A bench cushion in tan leather, like the bag would be great. Russet velvet too but that’s probably not practical for a hard working space and kids!
Wow, you’ve taken this area from ordinary to absolutely stunning! Great job.
