A new year. A new room renovation list to conquer! I shared my list of completed room renovations from 2024, now it’s time to give you a peek into what’s to come! This year is going to be BIG. I’ll be tackling some big rooms and I’ll also be hiring in some help on some other more complicated projects, that aren’t so DIY friendly. With every year that passes, our home is slowly transforming into what I envisioned when we first walked through the doors.
And after this year, I think it’s going to make the biggest impact yet!
2025 Room Renovation List
Last Kid’s Bedroom
I was hoping to have all three kids bedrooms done last year, but my middle son’s didn’t quite get done like I had planned! I revealed my teenage daughter’s classic white bedroom, then my youngest son’s moody sports bedroom. I knew I was going to do his last because it’s the largest kid room with super tall ceilings and he has a few design challenges I wanted to think through. 1) that little door leads to a hidden that we want to do something fun with 2) he was a very BOLD color choice, which is so far out of my comfort zone, so I’ve needed to get creative on this one.
I am happy to report, we have finally come to an agreement on a super fun pre-teen boys room design that we BOTH love. His bedroom is top of the list for this year and we are diving in asap!
Hallway Mudroom/Drop Station
When you walk into our house from the garage, you walk through this little hallway that has a drop station and doors to the downstairs bathroom and laundry room. It’s a smaller space, but we use it all day and our guests walk down here when they need to use the bathroom. It’s been close to a disaster since we moved in. Our kids are in a million sports and this space is constantly filled with sports shoes, uniforms, backpacks and everything that needs to be returned to stores. It’s the ultimate drop station. So it’s time to make it feel a little more design friendly and also clean it up with some more organization.
Laundry Room Makeover
While we are polishing off this hallway, why not tackle the laundry room and checked it all off the list! This laundry room is a bit bigger than our small Washington laundry room, but it’s still not huge. I AM fortunate to have a sink and extra counter top in here, but it’s missing my style, a drying rack, more light and a little more organization. This room is going to be bold, a little more fun and I think I’m going to throw in a few surprises.

Staircase Renovation
Now we enter the big project I am hiring out this year! The staircases. We have two sets of stairs in our house and it’s time for a complete overhaul. The stairs connects all the different areas of our home and connect so many rooms, I truly believe that ones these are done it will make our home feel completely different!
I want to keep the character of our home, I don’t want to just put in a black metal stair railing. I want something that has a little charm, clean lines but also a vintage European look to it. Everything is already designed and we are kicking it off next week!

Back Staircase and Family Room
When we update all the railings, we will also be updating the stair runners ( I know many of you love the leopard print, but it’s just not us), painting the trim and having all the walls skim coated (smoothed out) and painted. Since the walls from the staircases flow into the family room and upstairs hallway, this also means some other spaces will be getting updated in the process too!
Formal Living Room Design
Our formal living room sits right off our entry way. It’s the first room you see when you walk in the front door. I have grown to love the chandeliers, but I’m still iffy on the wallpaper. We’ve added some furniture in here throughout the years to make it functional, but I have yet to make official design plans and truly design it, for real.
I will be removing the wallpaper on the walls (still undecided on the ceiling, we may keep it for now), adding picture frame moulding throughout the room, painting it all SW White Flour, updating the wall sconces, and basically resigning the whole thing!
This now takes us to the opposite side of the room. This room is super large, not the most functional and sometimes it’s been hard for me to design it. I think I have a pretty good idea of what I want but not 100%. My vintage carpenter’s table is staying. This is a piece I will keep forever and I’m obsessed with it. But it’s time to do the rest of the room.
Exterior Projects
Every year I tackle a few new exterior projects. Last year I did a lot in the courtyard and I really want to polish it off. This year I hope to build a second bench for the entry way, have our exterior trim painted SW Black Magic and our gutters copper, I will also be updating our broken gas lanterns on the front of the house!
