It’s hard to believe this will be our third Christmas in our home. I feel like we just moved in and I was trying to figure out how to decorate it for the holidays. The newness, the excitement, trying to decide where to hang the stockings and hang the garland. Every year it seems to get a little easier, I feel a little more in my routine and I figure out just how I want Christmas to feel in this home. I was hoping I’d have this room all remodeled and fully finished by this year, but I’m crossing my fingers for the next!
This year was all about embracing the character of the space. Keeping it neutral, while elegant and adding in pops of emerald green. Head to the blog to see my very favorite garland and how I combine different pieces to create our mantel display!

Christmas Mantel Decor
The mantle is always the focal point of the living room. The place where the garland is draped and the stockings are hung. It’s taken me awhile to learn how to drape garland over a mantel. I swear by this gorgeous Norfolk Garland . I use the same one on my staircase too!
I start with the Norfolk and then add in additional sprigs ( I get a lot of mine from Target and Hobby Lobby!) to create fullness and fill any gaps. Then, I add in twinkle lights and drape this DIY Vintage Bell garland I made a few years back!
As much as I love adding new Christmas decor every year, changing out colors and styles and adding in trends. I will always cherish the handmade stockings I made for my family. I made the first four 10 years ago and added the fifth once our family was complete. I love having those memories year after year.
I have some simple modern stockings I love linked here too!
Vintage Christmas Decor
Our living room has so many unique features to it. The wallpaper ceiling, the wood beams, the arches and large chandeliers. I worked with the color tones in this room to create my Christmas display this year. Focusing on rich neutrals, metallics, mixed with vintage pieces and pop of emerald green. Pulling in all the colors form the wallpaper.
A few months ago, I finally got my hands on the viral arched Walmart cabinet and it didn’t disappoint (you can read how I styled it here). I normally have it in the corner there but I love our tree there this time of year. So we did a little rearranging. The more pieces we add to this room, the more excited I get about finally completing it!
For my pops of emerald, I added these Emerald Velvet Pillows , gorgeous MacKenzie-Childs Emerald Ornaments and subtle green ribbon on the packages.
I found this Vintage Bell Set on Amazon, they are stunning in person. Great quality, nice vintage finish and they look great on a coffee table, hung over garland or on a vignette. I have them displayed on my famous Gold Tray I also use this filler garland everywhere! I have it hanging in our outdoor chandelier this year too!
This room feels extra magical this time of year! You can find sources to everything below!
