Decorating our outdoor space for the holidays was one of my favorite places to decorate in our Washington home. I loved turning on the fire, cuddling up with a big blanket and enjoying the brisk PNW winters with some Christmas cheer. While we don’t have snow falling around here too often, I was so excited to decorate our NEW outdoor living space with some Christmas cheer. Last year I primary used things I already had and this year I decided to change things up a bit! Let’s kick off the holiday season with a little tour of our Elegant Outdoor Christmas Seating Area.
Elegant Outdoor Christmas Seating Area
While everyone is busy decking out their homes with holiday cheer, have you thought about bringing that festive magic outside? A beautifully decorated outdoor space can be the perfect setting for cozy gatherings with family and friends. Plus, it lets you celebrate the season while enjoying the outdoors. So, grab a blanket, bundle up, and let’s bring some holiday spirit to your outdoor space!
Outdoor Christmas Decor
Large Canvas Modern Art | Artificial Wreath | Tree Framed Art | Chandelier | 72″ Cedar Trees | Plaid Pillows | White Textured Christmas Pillows | Black Lanterns | Red Bows | Wooden Trees | Garland | Norfolk Pine Branches | Rustic Ceramic Vase | Gold Wireless Lamp | Oversized Crochet Blanket | Concrete Stump Stools | Red Nordic Blanket | Woven Basket | Vintage Jingle Bells | Outdoor Rug | Vintage Sleds
A great way to approach outdoor holiday decor is to “spruce up” what you already have. Adding a few ribbons, lights, or garlands to your existing outdoor pieces can totally transform the space from “meh” to “fa la la!”. I draped garland over my chandelier and added festive pillows to my couch, and it instantly brought a cozy, holiday feel without being too much.
This year I wanted to bring in a little more black, white and neutrals to my Christmas decor this year with just a subtle pop of dark red and forest green. The goal is to find the perfect balance between elegant and cozy, both modern and classic.
I added lights to my favorite Artificial Cedar Trees that I have around our exterior. They instantly turned to holiday magic. I swapped out my normal pillows for these White Textured Christmas Pillows and Plaid Pillows. Added a few cozy blankets and red bows and this space is where I’ll be all winter.

A basket is always a great way to add some extra texture to any space (and can easily serve as storage space). For this year’s outdoor setup, I filled this gorgeous basket with cozy seasonal touches like blankets, pillows, and—of course—Vintage Jingle Bells! It’s such a simple way to bring in some holiday spirit without going overboard.
Earlier this year I fell victim to adding Gold Wireless Lamps around our exterior. If you don’t have an outlet near by, these are a perfect way to add some mood lighting to our outdoor space.

My goal is to keep my Christmas decor a little more neutral and organic this year, but I do love a good Red Bow. Just a few to make a space feel classic.
Candles are a total game-changer when it comes to outdoor holiday decor. Not only do they add warmth, but they also bring a soft, inviting glow to your space. Their sturdy design makes them perfect for the outdoors, so you don’t have to worry about them tipping over in the wind. Whether you’re using Black Lanterns or simply scattering them around, candles create a cozy ambiance that we all love during the holidays.

My Favorite Artificial Christmas Greenery
I just bought these Norfolk Pine Branches for this space and they exceeded my expectations. They are the same soft material as my favorite Artificial Wreath. They are absolutely stunning in person. Adding these branches to any area of your home for the holidays will add an elegant and organic touch to your holiday decor. I put them in this Rustic Ceramic Vase with black bells (similar to these).
I also have the same Norfolk Garland that I use on my mantel and staircase that is just dreamy!

We’ve already had a s’mores night out here and I see many more in our future. See last year’s Christmas courtyard HERE, you may see a few familiar pieces!
I hope you’re feeling inspired to pull out the Christmas decor or to go shopping for new pieces!

Hi, I am wondering if you could give me the exact brand information for the red and white reindeer blanket that is pictured, the one pictured is different than the Target one that you link. Thanks!

Hi! Mine is old from Overstock, and not available on their site anymore. But I think this one is probably a closer match https://rivr.link/TWD-Sr8eUN
