When it comes to holiday decor, I love it but I also want to spend my time and energy RENOVATING. It’s definitely a tough balance this time of year! I always have a hard time decorating a room for Christmas until it’s exactly the way I want it. Which means, I tend to only decorate the rooms that are finished. One of the very first spaces that I completed in our home is our outdoor fireplace seating area. It’s the perfect place to decorate for the holidays and the first place I work on! It welcomes everyone into our home.

Start with the fireplace since it naturally becomes the main focal point. A few large jingle bells, some small decorative trees, and a simple wreath instantly make the space feel festive without taking away from the beautiful stonework. Little touches like pinecones or greenery keep the look natural and relaxed.

Next, bring in all the comfy textures. Think chunky blankets, soft throw pillows, and rich holiday colors like deep green and classic plaid. I found this Green Plaid Blanket and Green Knit Blanket at Target! The mix of creamy neutrals with seasonal accents makes everything feel cozy but still clean and inviting. And don’t be afraid to mix textures—knits, velvet, woven baskets… it all works together and adds so much warmth.

Lighting is another big one. A slim, pre-lit Christmas tree tucked in the corner adds just the right amount of sparkle. I found these 6 ft pre-lit trees on Amazon and they are the perfect accent trees. At night, those twinkle lights bounce off the brick and stone and make the whole space feel magical.
