Depending on who you are, plaid can be a bit of a hot topic- you either love it or you absolutely hate it. Personally, I love using plaid bedroom decor… as long as it’s done the right way! Plaid is very traditional, cozy, and a little rustic of a pattern, but you can easily transition this classic design to be more modern to better fit your aesthetic!
I’m a firm believer that anyone who is anti-plaid will change their mind if they see a plaid room done right. I’ve created three plaid bedroom design boards, all very different visually and aesthetically, but all with a tasteful amount of plaid flair!
Plaid Bedroom Decor Ideas
Black Plaid Bedroom Decor
Black and white plaid patterns are definitely on the more modern side of the plaid spectrum, and can easily be mixed and matched to create the perfect balance in your room. With the ‘Black Plaid Bedroom’, I wanted the bed to be the focal point of the room with contrasting light and dark pieces to fill the rest of the space! (and you can’t forget about your four-legged family members!)
Antique Plaid Bedroom Decor
I’m sure when you think of a plaid bedroom, you think of something similar to the ‘Antique Plaid Bedroom’. While on the more traditional side, with the help of modern gold fixtures and a chic leather swivel chair, this traditional space turns into the plaid bedroom of your dreams!

As you all know, I’m a big fan of mixing new and “old” pieces to create a room with a dynamic style. This is why I love the look of the ‘Vintage Modern Plaid Bedroom’ because it looks and feels traditional but is very modern and sleek at the same time. I think this room is perfect for an older teen or collage-aged boy!
