In true DIY fashion, my daughter’s bedroom renovation took much longer than expected. But you better believe I am going to get this reveal in before the clock strikes 2024! I officially kicked off her room makeover in August when I shared her whimsical design board and we have finally reached the finish line! This was the biggest room renovation I have tackled in our Dallas house and it has only made me even more excited for what’s to come. So let’s dive right into her Vintage Boho Teen Bedroom reveal.
Vintage Boho Teen Bedroom
If you scroll to the bottom of the post, I have all the before photos of this room! You won’t believe the full transformation. I can’t even believe it’s the same space.
Whenever I am working on a room renovation for one of my kids, I always want to involve them in the process. I want them to love the space they live in, I want it to feel like them and I want it to be something that they helped bring to life.
When we started talking about her room renovation she had a very specific idea of what she wanted! I love a girl who knows what she wants! I feel like this room truly represents her and that’s all I could ask for. She wanted something a little boho, a little vintage, cream white, lots of neutrals with touches of sage green and blush pink. They showed me tons of photos of little details she loved from other rooms online and we worked to create a space just for her.
In the past few months I removed all the wallpaper, installed picture frame moulding throughout the space, installed shiplap on the vaulted ceiling, painted the entire room SW White Flour and styled the space in a mixture of both vintage and boho decor.
There were so many times throughout the room when I thought the ceiling would be too much, but I always remind myself to trust the process. I am SO glad I ended up doing the whole ceiling. It adds a lot of texture and dimension to a neutral space and also a touch of elegance.
ARCHED CANOPY BED AND BEDDING
Before we moved into this house my daughter had a very different design board for her room. It was more black and cream boho. I fell in love with this arched canopy bed , I love the lines of it and felt like it went so well with out house. It was definitely a splurge. When the vision for the room shifted, I wasn’t sure if the black would be too harsh with the design. There is still part of me that thinks a lighter color bed would work better in here, but this was a big purchase and it’s not going anywhere anytime soon.
My daughter requested big comfy and fluffy bedding and this textured comforter didn’t disappoint. I added these beautiful green floral pillows and textured lumbar pillow along with this green knitted throw blanket.
NIGHTSTAND ACCESSORIES
Her bedside decor is all meaningful and personal to her.
The floral wall sconces were one of the very first purchases I made for this room! I didn’t realize they were plug-ins and ended up converting them to hardwired.
The little green sewing machine was actually my grandma’s toy when she was a young girl. She is 101 years old and I love having a piece of her in this room.
HANGING BEDROOM CHAIR
On the opposite side of the room is her cozy corner. She made a specific request for a hanging chair and I made it work! I ended up hiring someone to hang it for me after a few failed attempts and it was worth it. I wrapped the chain in a braided rope to give it a softer and more polished look.
Shall we talk about the curtains versus no curtains? After much debate on installing the custom curtains that I adore for this room, we decided to wait until the chair was up to make our final decision. Once the chair was in, it takes up a good amount of space and we liked how open the windows were. I think the curtains plus the chair would have been too much, plus they would take away from the gorgeous window trim.
I did install these gorgeous and budget friendly black out roman shades by Select Blinds! They were the easiest roman shades I have ever installed and are so beautiful in person.
This side of the room also includes her vanity area. I love this olive dresser, it is such a perfect green. And can we talk about this floral arrangement? I had a local boutique put it together for me and I love how it adds texture and pulls all the colors together.
TEEN GIRL DESK SPACE
Another must on the list was a desk space. I went with this rattan vintage inspired desk, that ended up matching the nightstands and the rattan bench quite well! I was worried about having too much of it in the room and being too matchy matchy, but I think it all balances out.
I couldn’t find a chair in the shade I was looking for, so I had this chair custom made. It is very comfortable and great quality. This one is such a pretty shade of olive green.
This set of prints is from Amazon and they are great quality! I paired them with the hanging gold frames.

WATCH THE RENOVATION
This reveal wouldn’t be the same without showing you the full before and after photos of the room. Here are the pics I took the day we moved in! It doesn’t even feel like the same space.
BEFORE BEDROOM
It is so much brighter, light and airy and really allows the features of the room to shine. Thank you all for hanging out during this entire renovation! It was a long one, but I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out!
