My little guy’s baseball bedroom is coming together! It’s been five months of working on this room and we are getting down to the finish line. We’ve added picture frame moulding, built a window bench, painted the entire room, added a wall mural and now it’s time for one of the most important parts, THE FURNITURE & LIGHTING! If you thought the room was looking good already, wait until you see it NOW! I’m always amazed at how swapping out old light fixtures and adding a few new ones can completely transform a space. My goal for this room has always been to create a timeless boys room, with neutral colors, industrial accents and a subtle sports theme. When decorating a space, whether it’s a bedroom, living room or bathroom, I always start with picking out lighting and furniture first and let the details fall into place. I started with picking out pieces that included a mixture of textures and metals, but also have a cohesive look.

If you haven’t noticed, lighting has been a HUGE part of every room I have worked on in this house. Given it’s approaching 20 years old, a lot of the rooms just simply don’t have enough light in them, or the fixtures are right at that age of needing a big face lift. Plus accent lighting is a must. When picking out new lighting, Lamps Plus is always one of the first place I go to. They always have what I’m looking for.

For this room I wanted to swap out the ceiling fan with a more industrial modern fan that also included a light. I love this Industrial Ceiling Fan. It’s sleek, industrial and I love the mixed metals on it. FYI – it does come with a remote!

The Tall Black Lamps are actually one of my favorites in the room. With taller ceilings, I wanted a taller headboard which also required taller bedside lamps.

I went with these Tall Black Lamps. They are stunning in person. Amazing quality and HEAVY. I love the really soft dim light they give off.

I added additional accent lighting in the new window bench. I LOVE how this cozy reading corner turned out. My son curls up in here every day after school to unwind and it’s the sweetest thing. But with every corner, it needed a little reading light. I added these Globe Wall Sconces. They are the perfect size for this niche and these are QUALITY. They are heavy, made with quality materials and look amazing.

Now let’s talk furniture. I cannot tell you how many times I tell people I got a piece of furniture from Lamps Plus and their reaction is, “they have more than lighting?!?” YES! In fact, almost our entire dining room furniture is from Lamps Plus! They have TONS of options.

With taller ceilings, I wanted a bed with a taller headboard so it felt more proportionate in the space. I went with this classic and timeless Natural Linen Bed Frame. This bed is perfection. I was a little worried because the color online comes off a little yellow/creamy, but in person it is the perfect oatmeal.

This is one of those beds that can go with almost any style and age range. I’d even take it for mine!

Under the bed, I layered two different rugs. The base layer is this Gray Textured Rug. I LOVE how it matches the wall color perfectly and also adds texture to the room. It’s so cozy. I paired it with this Washable Plaid Rug for a layered look.

Lastly, my son requested a small desk space just for him. We decided the best place for it would be under the custom gallery wall I did of his sports photos! I gave him a few options and he went with the Flavio 47″ Black Writing Desk . We actually changed it at the last second, I felt like the black would balance out the room a little better and he liked the little mail slots :)

To go with the desk, I chose the Linen Leather Desk Chair . I am obsessed with the leather detailing on the arms. It’s the perfect mix of rustic modern. It’s adjustable, gorgeous and really comfortable!

I honestly am so happy with how this entire room is turning out that I kinda want to move in myself :)
