My last kids bedroom in this house is DONE! Phew! Before I dive into any of the main spaces of our home, it was really important for me to do the kids’ bedrooms first. I wanted each of them to feel like they had a space of their own and reflected who they are. I started off with my daughter’s light and airy teen bedroom, then my youngest’s classic sports bedroom, and now my oldest son’s Teen Bold Sports Bedroom.
I’m giving you a full tour today with all the sources. And now that they are settled, it’s time to dive into the big spaces in our home!

Boys Purple Bedroom

I saved this room for last because 1) it was the largest kids bedroom and 2) my son requested purple walls. I was going to need a second to ponder this one. If you would have asked me 5 years ago if I would ever paint bedroom walls a shade of purple, I would have wanted to vomit. But dare I say that I love how this room turned out? It’s BOLD but also still chic and luxe feeling.

Picking the right shade of purple was a task, but when you get the right color the whole room feels right. I ended up with Concord Grape by Sherwin Williams in flat. That’s important. I tried to do the trim in satin and the color completely changed. I will also add that this color looks very different in different types of lighting.

To kick off the room renovation, I skim coated the walls to smooth them out and added the same reeded wall panels that I used in the mudroom. I wanted to keep it consistent throughout the house and also break up the bold wall color with some texture.

I also added this oversized sneaker artwork for a big statement piece in the room, with these industrial gold wall sconces that frame it.
I paired it with this upholstered storage bed that also has a trundle bed and slide out storage on the other side. It gives us an extra bed when guests are staying with us and also hidden storage for all the toys!

When picking out bedding, it’s all about layering. I fell in love with these NFL Sheets and made a last second change with the comforter to this black and white sports court print. The accent pillows tie the whole room together, the Faux Fur Lumbar Pillow , Football Field Pillow and TCU Pillow .
Before Bedroom

Do you even recognize the before?!
Hidden Bookshelf Door Accent Wall

This wall is unique in that is had a small door that leads to a small hidden room. Personally, I would rather have knocked the wall down and made the room even bigger, but my son still loves the magic the the hidden space so we kept it and worked it into the design. But if were were going to keep the secret room, it only made sense to make it truly secret with a hidden door.

I looking into various options and companies and decided to go with this pre-built hidden bookcase door. It is a little pricey? Yes, but not as pricey as some of the other ones I looked at and this way it was already built with hinges and I can customize the finish how I want.

I painted it SW black magic and then added these gold shelf railings to keep the items from flying off while the door opens and closes. I LOVE them so much. They add class.
It took me awhile to decide how to style the bookcase, but I ended up printing out a bunch of personal photos from sports and family trips. Keeping them all black and white for a timeless look.

To make it feel like a true complete space and accent wall, I added this graffiti wall mural. I actually think it polishes off the entire room! I am so excited about it!
Teen Gaming Center

Upholstered Desk Chair | LEGO Light Up Display Shelves | Gaming Wall Shelf Unit| Black Writing Desk | Acrylic Light Up Display Shelves | Oculus Charger Stand | Wireless Desk Lamp |
On this side of the room we created a gaming and desk set-up for right around $500! It’s a place to display all his LEGO creations, organize gaming devices and keep his keepsakes organized.

I found all of these pieces on Amazon and put them together to create a full set-up that works well together. Each piece is very reasonable and perfect for a kids room. I did this simple Black Writing Desk with two of these Light Up Display Shelves on either side (only $75 each!) and polished it off with Gaming Wall Shelf Unit in-between. This gives you tons of display shelves, places for gaming units and devices and more.

The cool thing about these acrylic light up shelves is that you can sync them with music and turn your room into a party. They are very fun but also very difficult to get finger prints off of them :)

This Oculus Charger Stand keeps everything organized on display. I love it.
