When we decided to somewhat spontaneously move to Dallas from Seattle, we had literally JUST finished a two year massive backyard renovation project. That included building an outdoor kitchen that we absolutely LOVED. It was actually one of the hardest things for us to leave behind. In the little time we had to enjoy the kitchen, with zero exaggeration I think Brian was outside grilling 3X a day. Safe to say, he was sad to leave his favorite grill behind and what he was greeted with didn’t help.
When we moved into our Dallas home, we were so fortunate to already have a completed backyard and an outdoor kitchen already built, BUT, the appliances had seen better days. The grill tended to only work on one corner and Brian would have to constantly shift the meat around to cook it. The fridge was older and had seen better days, the freezer was constantly frozen and would often cause the door to not close all the way and in all honesty it was too small for the opening. We also realized we had the perfect amount of space to expand the kitchen and add some more kitchen gear. IT WAS TIME FOR AN APPLIANCE UPGRADE.
Stone Outdoor Kitchen Design
Before Kitchen
We are so fortunate that the house already had an existing outdoor kitchen, but it was time for a little upgrade!
Coyote Outdoor Appliances
Coyote Outdoor Appliances are absolutely top-notch, you can instantly get a feel for their quality just from their aesthetic, and especially after you fire up your grill for the first time. They all come with extra features that take them from basic appliances to luxury. There is a reason why we wanted them again in this home, it’s because they really passed the test on so many levels.
Coyote Built-In Asado Smoker
Being in Texas, it’s pretty much a crime if you don’t have a smoker in your backyard. We were so fortunate to already have a large outdoor kitchen space that extra countertop space. We use the bar height counter to eat at all the time, but we could definitely afford to give up some counter space to expand the kitchen.
We decided to retro-fit the existing kitchen to make room for the Coyote Asado Built-In Smoker. The smoker comes in a classic black which happens to blend perfectly with our outdoor decor. Not that it matters or anything, eh-hem. We also got the built-in sleeve for the Asado to sit in. This makes the whole set up look really polished and we can keep all the accessories in the drawer.
The Asado Smoker runs on charcoal and comes with tons of different smoker accessories, including a pizza stone, chicken throne and heat deflector. We have only started experimenting with everything and I can’t wait to become an expert on all the ways we can use the Asado smoker.
30″ Built-in Coyote S- Series Grill
The outdoor kitchen is truly all about the grill. We have the 30″ Built-In S Series Grill. We had the S-Series at our previous home and absolutely loved it. It sears amazing, the heat is evenly distributed, it includes a rotisserie kit and ceramic briquette heat control grids.
But my favorite part, it has illuminated knobs and full lights inside for when the sun goes down.
We did a rotisserie whole chicken the other night, it got nice and crispy with a good char and it was absolutely delicious!
If I had one regret on this project, I wish I would have gone with a larger grill. When I was planning this project I thought I would get a grill that was the exact same size as the opening to make it an easy replacement, but after having someone come out to cut the stone for the smoker, I wish I would have made a slightly larger opening for a larger grill. We had the room and it was a missed opportunity on my part. But with every project there is a learning experience!
Coyote 24″ Outdoor Beverage Fridge
The beverage fridge was probably the main appliance that needed an update. It was too small for the space, the freezer was constantly frozen over and it really just needed one large space for all our beverages. We went with the Coyote 24″ Outdoor Refrigerator. It is STUNNING. I never thought I’d say that about a fridge, but it is amazing quality. It holds A LOT of drinks, 5.5 cubic foot capacity, and you can adjust the shelving to better fit your size of bottles or cans.
Look at this amazing display. Organized, beautiful and enough to keep the whole party going. I love how it has a digital thermometer to keep everything at optimal temp.
We are so happy with how everything turned out and it’s nice to see Brian back to grilling twice a day :) I cannot recommend Coyote Outdoor Appliances enough. They will definitely take your backyard kitchen to a whole new level.
