Laundry Room Makeover Week 2

Last week I kicked off a brand new New Year New Room challenge with a group of design bloggers and it’s time for a check in! So let’s dive right into what’s been happening in the laundry room makeover week 2!

Laundry Room Makeover Week 2

I’ll be honest I wish I had more of an update for you but this week went by SUPER fast and yesterday was a snow day and there is no way this momma was going to get anything done with changing snow clothes 5,000 times a day and making 50 meals. Ok exaggerating but you get the idea.

BUT I have made SOME progress! We started demo work on the room and took down the existing pipe shelving structure and patching all the nail holes from the previous space. So that’s a start right?! ;)

Did We Demo The Closet?

Also, I talked about potentially wanting to remove the existing linen closet to open up the space. Well, we tried but it didn’t go as planned. Instead of just ripping down the closet, we cut a small hole in the inside wall of the closet to see what was inside the walls and it turns out there is an HVAC pipe running right down the outside corner, making it impossible to remove the closet. Whomp, whomp. But so glad we took the safe route first and did a test!

I was super disappointed because I really wanted to expand our tiny laundry room, but on the flip side we have less work to do and we won’t have to replace the flooring!

So what’s next?

Today, we are starting to paint the space the same white as the rest of the house getting everything else ordered!

I hope to have a bigger update for you next week! Click here to take a look at my design board and see everything I have planned! I added links to everything!

I have a feeling a few of my friends got a little farther in their spaces than me, so head below and check them out!

Tarwyn, couldn’t someone build a partial box to enclose that pipe? That way at least you would gain some room in there.

If you removed the linen closet, what was your plan for linen storage?
I have a fairly large laundry room, but have NO linen closet! I currently use old open bookshelves. I’d love to know what your plan was.

We are putting cabinets in over the washer/dryer which will add a lot of storage, plus we normally keep extra sheets/linens in each of their rooms. For us, we don’t need the closet.
