I originally wasn’t going to post an update this week because I felt like I didn’t have one… and that seems to be a trend for Week Two of the One Room Challenge. BUT I decided I do have some updates, just not in the way that I was hoping to share this week! Last week I shared the plans for our bonus room makeover and let’s see the progress I made in the first week.
Bonus Room Makeover Week 2
Here is the actual work I did in the room this week! It’s fully cleared out and ready for projects! But that is it! I was going to paint the ceiling black but decided to go a different direction so that halted that project. And then I was ready to rip out the carpet, but decided to wait on that until I actually have the hardwoods ready to install.
So alas, not as much work got done here! In true ORC, I swear I’ll be doing 75% of the room renovation in the last two weeks lol.
Stikwood Accent Ceiling
Ok, so I decided that I didn’t want to just paint the ceiling. I wanted something different and more textural. I have played around with a lot of different ideas and finally decided to do a black wood planked ceiling using Charcoal Stikwood. We used Stikwood in our home office, and I absolutely love the product. I think it will be the perfect addition to the space and just what I was looking for. It’s hard to see the full wood grain in the sample pic, but you can head to their site to see more examples of it.
New Accent Comfy Chairs
Ok! Here are some bigger updates. Some of our furniture started to come in and I am SO excited about ALL of it! I don’t want to move it into the space until the hardwoods are in, so I decided to stage it in our living room downstairs until we are ready to move it. It happens to fit perfectly down here too!
All of the new pieces are from Overstock. I LOVE these accent chairs! When it comes to seating around our house, my husband as one request, that he won’t feel like he will break it if he sits on it ha! He’s a bigger guy so I always big more oversized comfy furniture to make sure he is comfortable along with any other guests we have. It’s definitely one of the few thing I have to compromise on, but I still love them.
These textured ottomans are so cozy and add so much dimension and the perfect pop of pattern! They are really firm which I love, so people will feel comfy sitting on them and not sinking. They are definitely high quality!
I am also loving the new coffee table. I really fell in love with the shape and color of this table. It is a little darker in person than on the site, but I think it is a great piece and so versatile.
I can’t wait to move all of these pieces up to the room! But I am enjoying them down here for now!
