It’s that wonderful time of year! You’ve seen tons of Christmas posts so far and it’s time to give you one big grand tour of our home decorated for the holidays. This year I went with a bit of a theme, a mixture of black and white with pops of red and green and metal and wood and allll my favorite things! So today, I’m opening the door to our Modern Tartan Christmas Home Tour.
I’m also going several other bloggers who are opening up their homes as well. If you are joining from So Much Better With Age , so happy to have you here!
Modern Tartan Christmas Home Tour
I always struggle a little bit with what to name my house tours because I don’t really feel like I fit into one main genre. I love clean modern lines but my house isn’t exactly uber modern, I do like to incorporate some traditional classic items but I don’t consider myself to be very traditional. I am definitely a mix of a lot of styles. I am actually thinking about writing a post on it soon! Anyway…. back to the house tour!
Christmas Porch Decor
Welcome to our Christmas Porch! I revealed this a few weeks ago and talked a little bit about how it’s my first time using only fresh greens to decorate the porch! I have always loved the classic look of garland draped across door ways and hallways, and stair cases and well, just about everywhere!
For my front door I used a simple $5.99 bushel of greens from the grocer store and tied a little ribbon on it! Super simple and inexpensive way to dress up your door!
Christmas Entry Way
As you enter the home you’ll find our very minimalist entry way decor with hints of Christmas. I shared this Scandinavian Inspired artwork that I made for this space this year. It was fun to transform this space into something new for the holidays.
I added a little more greenery to this space to give it a little cozier feel.
Red, Black and White Christmas Decor
I really love how this entire space turned out this year. It’s a little different than anything I have ever done, it’s a true mixture of modern, simplistic but also a pop of traditional as well.
For our mantel I went with a more nordic look using lots of natural elements and and a few pops of color. Putting all white candles on the mantel has also been a favorite of mine but one I have never done myself. This year is definitely a year of firsts and I’m liking the direction it’s going!
I just revealed our Woodland Chic Tree this week! It is filled with all my favorite things to decorate with, black, white, gold, industrial metal, wood accents and the occasional pop of color!
Really love how our new black and white rug pull the whole look together in here.
This whole little seating area gets a little moved around every Christmas to make room for the tree. The big carpenters table that is normally here gets moved behind the house as an accent table, I took out the coffee table because it looked a little too cluttered. And now we have a cute little seating area by the tree. I like changing things up around the house (obviously!) but this room typically doesn’t change a lot unless it’s Christmas.
This right here is where I sit and this is my view when I’m working. My feet up and my sparkly lights in the background. This time of year I’m really not sad that I don’t have an office :)
We will take a quick peek at this side of the room. I actually used far less pillows than normal, ha! Throughout the house I used pops of traditional tartan pattern. It’s fun to mix it in with my black and white decor for a different look.
I have actually been wanting to make some changes to this little space and I think it will be on my list for the new year. I’m thinking of updating the rug to better match the black and white one on the opposite side of the room, and a different coffee table!
Christmas Dining Area
Our downstairs is one big open space so let’s take a peak behind the family room and head into the kitchen and dining area.
I’ve shared one Christmas Table Setting this year, but for every day I have these amazing black modern lanterns paired with greenery. They are simple easy to move around and make eating at the table every day pretty easy! It’s always hard to do big displays here when we use the table so much!
At the end of the coffee table sits our ship lap console area. A little place that I like to switch up for all the holidays. My All Is Calm Printable can be downloaded here. And is surprisingly has been one of my most popular posts this year!
Christmas On The Patio
This space is always one of my favorites to decorate for the holidays! You can head to the full reveal post to see all the details and get the sources!
