It’s time for the Fall Edition of Calling It Home’s One Room Challenge! For those of you who don’t know about it, it’s a fun challenge that happens twice a year where you try and finish a space in your home in 6 weeks! I did it last spring for the first time ever and it was a blast, but also a HUGE challenge. Last time I attempted to start and complete our home office in that exact time frame and I failed miserably. Mainly because I literally didn’t order my furniture until the day the challenge started and all my furniture was on back order and didn’t make the deadlines. However, I did make a huge amount of progress! Click here to see how it turned out.
Now it’s time to work on another room in the house! Sooo, you may have noticed that my son just turned a year this month and I have yet to share his nursery with you. Eeek! That’s because it’s not finished. In my defense, I didn’t even start the room until he was about 5 months old, but it’s still not done and I’m hoping to use this challenge to help me finish the last few projects for the room, get all the details perfected and actually reveal it!
White Washed Wood Wall Mural : White Modern Dresser : White Modern Crib : PB Kids Charleston Rocker : Industrial Sconces : Geometric Changing Pad Cover : Polka-Dot Crib Sheet : Vintage AirStream Bank : Vintage Blocks : Wood Picture Frames : Fishing Blue Prints
I began working on the room back in January, collecting pieces and moving things around and doing a few DIY projects. But I’m the type of person who needs to live in a space for awhile before I really know how I want it to look and feel. SO that’s what I’m using this challenge for, to help give me the push to finish the nursery (now that he’s a year old), knock out those last big DIY projects and really fine tune it.
Above is my vision board for the room. I’m going with my standard mix of both modern and vintage, with neutral tones, lots of texture, wood accents and this time… a little bit of a vintage fishing theme. After all, it is a kid’s room!
Earlier this year, I shared a few projects that I already started for the space…
A Peg Board Changing Table Station !
And a Cube Storage Hack that turned a basic storage unit into one with a little more character.
Now it’s time to really bring this room together and get the look I’ve been after! I can’t wait to share the progress week by week!
My son is nearly 14 months and I haven’t shared his nursery yet, either! Love all the neutral tones and texture, and I can’t wait to see how it all turn out!
The mood board is SO FUN!!! Can’t wait to see what you do with it Taryn!!!
