There is one thing you should know about me. I love a challenge. I love the adrenaline rush and the feeling of pushing myself to new limits, especially when it comes to something I’m passionate about.
I’ve followed Calling It Home’s One Room Challenge throughout the years and I decided it was about time I participate myself! The rules are simple, makeover a room in your home in 6 weeks and give weekly updates. Eeek! Considering most major room makeovers I do take 6-12 months to reveal on the blog, this is a HUGE challenge for me. And I’m ready for it. Kinda.
We’ve lived in our home for just over 1.5 years (which seems crazy, it still feels like yesterday) and there is only one room left in our home that I have done absolutely NOTHING to. OUR OFFICE. I mean you guys, I have literally done nothing except move the desk in there. There are still moving boxes in there and pictures sitting on the floor. I’ll show a real life picture next week, but this was how clean and pretty it looked when we moved in.
The thing is, my husband works from home so he uses the office almost every day. This is HIS space in the house. He is gracious and has given me full reign of the rest of the house, including the entire garage (my office) and he deserves to have a manly and well decorated space of his won. It’s time.
I am actually really excited about this project. The office is the only room in our home with dark molding and it already has great bones, it just needs to feel like home.
I want a dark, masculine and industrial yet classic look for the space. Here are a few spaces that I’m using as inspiration for the room.
INSPIRATION FOR OUR OFFICE

So are you catching the style I’m going for? Well, here we go! I’m a little nervous but super excited to get started and my husband is actually really excited to have his office done! It’s definitely going to be a busy next 6 weeks. Be sure to follow along on Instagram. I have a feeling I’ll post some progress photos over there too!

Love your inspiration photos! This will be my first time with the ORC as well, and I’m both nervous and excited! We renovated my husband’s office last year and I still haven’t finished with the decor yet, so I can’t wait to see how your renovation turns out!

Can’t say we’ve done any major re-do’s except for “finally” painting our living room almost 2 years ago. Had waited almost 8 yrs. after moving in to get hubs to help me and decide what color I wanted. Finding some gray/white printed curtains at TJ Maxx made that decision, yeahoo finally..
Was ready to sell this place and move on but having nice light room with very light gray walls made such a difference, reconsidered ditching this place. I made new art, gallery wall, painted some furniture. Didn’t take photos tho, duh, to remind me of difference. Also got couch I wanted, really disliked one we had.
Wow your hubs office is big room, can hardly wait to see when done, have fun with it. Lots of hard work over 6 weeks but will be worth it in end. Ah the anticipation.
Better get myself back out to give” new to us” tv stand another coat on top and sides. Think am going to paint top little darker gray than rest of 6 drawer dresser( we got at our local thrift store last week $20.) Then we took out 2 top drawers for shelf to put dvd on. We put sturdy casters on for easier moving on carpet and for the “look”. Wanted tv stand to be higher so dresser is good fit with casters.
Trying to decide what to do with old tv stand (too low for me) but something will come up. Been wanting something different after seeing all the great tv stands bloggers have made, just had to wait for right piece and affordable to come along. Have wonderful weekend, hope it’s Springy there.
