It’s week 3 of the One Room Challenge (catch up here) ! You may have noticed that I skipped week 2. Well, to be honest no visible progress was made during the first week. I did a lot of online shopping and I’ve been waiting patiently for things to arrive so I can really get started!
This week I put together the industrial bookcase for the office makeover! First project, check.
I’m going for a very industrial, masculine look for this room and I knew I wanted an cool etagere for books and decor. I found this one by Uttermost on Amazon and it was a pretty decent price considering most I found were double.
I love the mix of the rustic wood and the tarnished metal. It worked perfectly into my plan for the room.
I typically don’t show things on the blog until they are absolutely perfect. But that is one of the fun things about this challenge, is that you get to see the whole process of me doing this space.
The whole structure ended up looking a little smaller on the wall than I expected, so that will be something I will need to work around. We have tall ceilings in this room and there is a lot of extra space on top of it. So now I need to think of a plan on how to find more balance.
Now I will wait patiently for the new furniture to arrive so I can get started on more!
It looks really nice. I am totally getting the masculine feel and it is very well put together. I wish I had a book shelf to decorate. lol my husband loves books, so we tend to end up with more books then bookshelves, which means no room for decorations. I might need to get a bookshelf just so I can decorate it! Ha.
You have a beautiful space to work with, I am looking forward to seeing it finished!

It’s so different and very creative. I love the look!
I really like the look of this book shelf! Wood and metal is a combo I’ve really been drawn to recently. I’m excited to see how your space turns out!
The space is beautiful and this bookshelf lends itself wonderfully for that rich moody masculine look you were inspired by… looking forward to see all your changes together. (I missed the ORC this time, but hope to join in next time too. ;) )
