It’s September!!!!! Woo hoo! It’s officially the start of #pumpkineverything and I’m starting with adding some fresh new pumpkin designs to my fall decor. This is really the only time of year when I do a big change up with my ‘every day’ decor and I’m SO excited about it this year. It gives me an excuse to switch things up around the house (as if I needed one anyway), try new things and really experiment with my style. And what a better way to kick off this year’s fall decor trends than with the Michaels Makers Pumpkin Challenge!
Last year I created a Painted Pumpkin Centerpiece and this year I made these fresh Modern Metallic Pumpkins that will really set the tone for my fall decor this year.
These pumpkins were seriously SO easy to make and they were a lot of fun too! I love how every design is different and you don’t need any design skills to make them look cool and modern. And you don’t need any supplies but paint either!
Ready to see how easy these are? I bet you will be running to Michaels today!
Supplies
- Faux Pumkins
- I used 13″ White Pumpkin, Gray Pumpkin and small White Pumpkin
- DecoArt Americana Metallic Paints
- Antique Bronze, Rose Gold and Silver Gray (not metallic)
Here are the exact paints that I used. These colors are amazing! I am obsessing over the rose gold. I might be using it for a million other things coming up.
Start with your bare pumpkin. I love these ‘concrete pumpkins’ Michaels is carrying this year.
Shake your metallic paint onto the center of the pumpkin until it starts going over the edges.
I found that it helped to gently tilt the pumpkin to help the paint flow a little faster. I did this on various sides of each pumpkin.
Then let it slowly drip on its own. Because of the amount of paint built up in the center by the stem, these pumpkins did take a little while to dry. After 2 days the top was still a little sticky.
Otherwise, super easy and very quick project that will add a little modern touch to your pumpkins!
