It’s time to start decorating the master bedroom! Eeek! We are starting this space completely from scratch and I’m really excited about it. When we made the move, we upgraded from a queen to a California king so all our old bedroom furniture made its way to our new guest room. It’s taken us a while to get started on our master, but we finally made the first step and have new bed and bedding!
I’m going to do something I’ve never done before and give you a step by step peek into the entire design process of our master bedroom!
Yup, that’s right. I’m going to take you on the journey as I put each piece into this space. So consider this party 1. I generally don’t show you much of a room until the big reveal but I thought it would be fun to see how a room comes together. Ready for the first peek?
I have a slight obsession with white bedding. I love it. For so many reasons. So it’s no surprise that I went with a classic black and white duvet and shams. I fell in love with the Alexa Duvet & Sham Set from Birch Lane. I love the clean lines and how simplistically beautifully it is.
Another reason why I went with white is that it goes with everything! I am someone who loves change, I crave it and that characteristic carries over into my decor as well. But with this duvet, I can change out my pillows as often as I want and I will never get tired of it and a white duvet will never go out of style!
I played around with many different throw pillows until I landed on this combo. I love mixing neutrals and textures and I really liked how the classic black and white duvet paired with the bold pillows.
When I crawl into bed at night, I feel like I’m sleeping at a 5 star hotel! This duvet is 400 thread count and so soft and cozy! Sometimes you never know what you are going to get when making a purchase online, but I couldn’t be happier.
If you haven’t heard of Birch Lane yet, it is a new home furnishings line with both contemporary and traditional pieces. They have something for every style! I have spent hours on their site and have fallen in love with so many of their pieces and you can’t beat their prices either.
Next up on the bedroom list: a new headboard, nightstands and curtains!

Oh, how lovely! White can be so elegant and glamorous. (Although, I have to admit, I tend towards color — but some of that might be because we’re still renting and I can’t go crazy on the walls!) ;-)
