Our stockings are hung by the fire and our living room is almost ready for Christmas! We just need our tree and the room is complete! Decorating our mantel for any season is one of my favorite things to do, but Christmas takes the cake! The second those stockings go up I feel like the magic of Christmas instantly fills our home. Today I want to show you our Scandinavian Inspired Christmas Mantel. At least my take on the trend!
I am also joining a group of bloggers today who are all sharing their own mantels and vignettes with you, so be sure to scroll down through the bottom for all the links!
Scandinavian Inspired Christmas Mantel
I normally wait until the sun goes out of this room to take pictures of our mantel. But yesterday was the most gorgeous winter day here in the PNW. It was blue sky sunshine with the brisk cold air. I couldn’t help but love the feeling of being inside out cozy home with the fire going and the afternoon sun peeking into this space. I decided to capture what it looks like in our winter afternoons. It just felt more authentic to me and wanted to capture this view.
In some ways our mantel feels more simple than years past but also different and unique. After all, this is only the fifth Christmas mantel I have EVER decorated so it’s always fun to play around with new themes and designs each year. I will say it incorporates more traditional Christmas looks than ever before. I think this is the very first time I have ever paired red and green together, EVER. But note, it’s a very subtle inclusion this year :)
Handmade Stocking Hung By The Fire
When my middle son was born I made these DIY Drop Cloth Stockings for our entire family. It’s funny how I can’t help but move our decor around every day, and always want to try new things and switch things around. But when it comes to sentimental items like this, I could never bring myself to change them. I love how these are OUR stockings that come out year after year and no matter how much changes around them, they remain constant.
This year I added a DIY Wood Bead Garland along the top of the mantel and I love the dimension it brings to the whole look.
Blanket Ladder
You may recognize the blanket latter off to the corner, I actually used the exact same one with the same blankets in our Fall Mantel this year. I loved it so much that I kept it around for Christmas!
Simple White Candles on Mantel
I kept the decor on top our mantel nice and simple this year with just simple white candles and sprigs of greenery. It’s such a nice classic look that I have wanted to try for awhile and I’m so glad it worked out so well this year.
I created this DIY Modern Christmas Artwork that I hung above the chair. I’ve always felt like this bare space on the wall needed a little something extra, and this was a great fit for what I was going for this year. I’ll be sharing the free download of it soon!
Subtle Red and Green Christmas Mantel
I brought in subtle touches of red and green through the blanket, the greenery and the pillows on the chair. Just enough to create a few pops of color!
Thanks for checking out our mantel this year! You can view last year’s mantel here, it feels so different to me! Definitely a little cozier.
I encourage you to head below to check out so many more Christmas mantels and vignettes! There is a style for everyone!
