A few weeks ago, I gave a little sneak peek of the party we threw for my grandparents with the DIY outdoor lights and today I’m sharing a few more details from the big day.
On August 25, my grandparents celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary. Isn’t that amazing? They are such an inspiration. To honor them, our family threw a big party that couldn’t have been more perfect. We put on an elegant Rustic Outdoor Party in our backyard and it was so special. I’m so happy with how it turned out. It was a very memorable evening.
Rustic Outdoor Party
DIY Farmhouse Floral Centerpiece
We kept it simple yet elegant with a long rectangular table that ran down the center of our big yard. It was covered in cream linens and my sister in law put together these beautiful rustic centerpieces using tree rounds and mason jars with fresh flowers from Pike Place Market.
The night was like a mini wedding reception for my grandparents. Even at 93, we had them play newlywed games and we all roasted them. They are such a special couple.
DIY Party Favors
I made little favors from canvas bags I found at Michaels. Then I designed the graphic in PicMonkey and used heat transfer paper to put it on the bags. Its a really easy project, I do it all the time!
I had a local cake shop, Turquoise and Pink, make this beautiful rustic cake for the party. And it was just as delicious as it was beautiful.
We had a buffet so we didn’t do formal place settings and I liked it that way. Kept the table really natural.

What a night it was. My grandparents absolutely loved it. Just shows that you don’t need to spend a lot of money to put together a pretty and special outdoor party!

This party reminds me a lot of the rustic/woodland baby shower we are hosting for my sister. The wood plank platters are very popular. My dad is cutting us some to serve the food on. I love the treat bags. What did you fill them with?

Absolutely beautiful! What a lovely celebration of love. Congratulations to your grandparents! I wish them continued health and happiness. They must be such a great model of marriage and commitment to your family members, as are my parents who were married 62 years before my mom passed away.
