My New Outdoor Hammock Space

We still have a long ways to go until our backyard is complete, but I’m loving all the new spaces we’ve added this year! I finally feel good about having people over now that we officially have grass and a few places to hang out. The ‘problem’ we have with our backyard (aka ‘the field’) is that it’s so big we don’t know what to do with it. I know what a problem, right? We love it, but it can be a little daunting. I decided to take advantage of our space and put together a little outdoor living space just for me! 

I’ve loved hammocks since I was a kid. I think they are so much fun and also very relaxing. I got this single person outdoor hammock from World Market and then accessorized it with their Paradise Fiji Collection . SO many fun pieces that helped turn a basic hammock into a beautiful and relaxing space.

I love these easy styling tips from designer Justina Blakeney. I use a lot of them already but they are great reminders when putting together a space:

1. Pick a dominant color and one or two accent colors. The colors tie the patterns together and make the space look cohesive. 2. Mix graphic pillows (like the dragonfly) with patterns (like the botanical prints). 3.Toss in some solids to balance everything out.

Ok I am a little obsessed with the Retro Cooler. I mean, come one, how cute is this? I’m going to be toting this thing around all summer just because I think it would make a great accessory :)

Can I tell you how much I love it out here? Our backyard truly feels like a retreat and I honestly become instantly relaxed every time I step outside. The warm sunshine, the subtle breeze through the trees and watching the kids run around in the grass. It’s my favorite. 
I really couldn’t imagine living anywhere else, especially now that we have this new space to relax in!

If you need me, I’ll be hanging out here all summer until baby #3 arrives… because I probably won’t be able to get out. Literally. Well, that’s my dream at least. Instead my two little kids will probably take over the hammock and I’ll be swinging them :)
