Time to spruce up that table for summer entertaining! I’m joining a fun group of bloggers today to show you some new summer tablescape designs. I am loving a good modern coastal decor this year and have been incorporating it into my home this season. I put together a brand new table design for you guys today using some traditional navy and white ticking paired with some fun modern vases and flatware.
Modern Coastal Table Decor
This little fluff bug has been quite the assistant over the past few weeks. I have learned to not put any decor on the floor that I don’t want chewed on and taken outside! But he sure is cute and cuddly at my feet :)
I love navy and white so it is such a go-to for me during the summer months. I love the traditional coastal look but I also want to give it a little modern twist. For this table I started with a roll of brown paper wrap for a causal texture and then started to layer. First the navy and white runner (I got this at HomeGoods but linked to a similar one for you!) and then added more coastal textures.
I picked up this drift wood garland on Amazon a few years ago and pull it out every year! I painted it a little white to give it more of a distressed look, super easy and inexpensive. Especially when it’s something I use time and time again. I even think it would be cute for a coastal Christmas look!
Coastal Place Setting
The place settings are all about mixing patterns and textures. One of my favorite things to do is check out the clearance section at home decor stores, especially when they are doing holiday closeout sales. I found these blue wicker placemats on clearance for just $1.50 each at the end of last summer. I snagged them up and have been waiting for the perfect time to use them. The navy blends great with the ticking runner and pulls the whole coastal look together.
I used my favorite World Market ceramic plates and then these beautiful modern gold flatware from Anko. And sometimes just a sprig of greenery is all you need to finish it off.
To bring in the modern elements, I stuck with clean lines of the flatware, black and white mat vases and more modern floral arrangements.
Summer Table Design
This look is relatively simple to recreate and brings a feeling of summer into your home.
