Sometimes the best posts are the ones that weren’t planned. A few weeks ago we had the most amazing sunset that filled our skies with pink and blue cotton candy skies and it felt like we were on vacation. I grabbed my camera and starting taking pictures for over an hour, watching the skies change and get even more vibrant. We have honestly had such an amazing summer here in the Seattle area. I think it has actually been the driest summer in history and I wanted to share a glimpse of it with you. So here are some pics of a very Pacific Northwest Summer.
Summer Patio Decor
We have spent SO much time WORKING on the backyard this summer that we don’t always take the time to really sit back and enjoy it. I try and spent 20-30 minutes out by the fire at night after dinner. Hanging with the kids and roasting s’mores. It’s actually been so relaxing to just decompress after the day and enjoy these warm summer nights.
I’ve already done a few more projects since I took these pics, but you can see how we hung the string lights here. It was a relatively easy project once you have all of the supplies and yes they are still holding up beautifully! We’ll see what happens when it gets a little windy out, we may take them down for winter.
We now spend so much time in our backyard. I honestly think (no, I KNOW) I’ve been out here more in the past 6 months that I have in the whole 6 years of living here. It feels so good to have a space to call our own and actually enjoy the space we have. We now eat meals out here, work on new projects during the day and I sit by the fire almost every night. There is just something magical about the evenings out here, which is why I wanted to capture them!
I have a lot more posts coming this month as I wrap up outdoor projects for the year. So stay tuned!

I am wondering what type of rock you used for you outdoorspace. It looks like maybe a grey granite of about 3/4″. I am trying to make a similar outdoor space and choosing rock is a big deal. I wonder if you would be willing to share the type you used.
