Another day of Christmas continues! I love seeing Christmas takeover our home. It’s so much fun walking into every room an seeing it lit up for the holidays. Today, it’s time to take a tour of our main living space, the place we hanging out most of our day! I tend to tweak our Christmas decor ever so slightly each year and this week I’m showing you our Black White and Red Christmas Living Room Decorations.
If you are hopping over from Maison De Pax, so great to have you here, but it’s hard to follow her amazing skills!
I went with a neutral theme, keeping the black and white from last year but also adding pops of red for this year!
Christmas Living Room Decorations
Like the rest of our house, I wanted everything to have modern lines mixed with vintage and rustic touches. It was fun to add a little color here and there, but we all know once January comes, that will be about as much as I can handle :)
This is one of my first years where I have really decorated our house for Christmas. The first year in this house we didn’t have any of our furniture in the family room, we didn’t even have a dining room table. And last year I had a newborn and did a very simplified version of Christmas decor. So this year, I decided to really go for it. Through the process I’ve learned a lot about decorating for Christmas, it’s like finding your own style all over again. Geesh, just when I think I figured out my ‘every day’ style, now I’m trying to find myself again in a whole different way!
I think like anything you do, the more practice you have the better you get. And that is sorta my hope when it comes to decorating for the holidays. It’s all fairly new to me.
I made this DIY Advent Calendar a few years back and the kids absolutely love it. I actually almost (just for a second) thought about getting rid of it this year and making something different, but the kids actually asked for it to be brought out. So needless to say, I’m glad I kept it :)
Every morning they come running down the stairs looking for the next number!
I had a few questions about my black and white buffalo check ribbon on Instagram, and the thing is, it’s not really ribbon! I was having a hard time finding what I wanted for the tree, and I stumbled upon this fabric at Walmart. It is really thick nice fabric and I cut it into 3 inch strips.
I moved our console table behind the sofa to make room for our tree and I love having a ledge behind the couch. I might end up making a new table to prop things on. I love the dimension it gives the room.
I can’t tell you how many times I find myself pulling these black and white printables out! I made them several years ago and I still love them. You can download a bunch of them for free here.
Now moving onto the other side of the room. We wanted to maximize the space in our large family room so we have two separate seatings areas. It’s a constant battle of mine to make sure they flow, but its great for entertaining!
My husband looked at this couch all decked out for the holidays and goes, “I think you have reached your limit with the pillows”. Ha! I have a small throw pillow obsession and I just love how cozy they look with the mix and match of patterns and textures.
This couch is my little spot in the house. I love sitting in the corner and working away or snuggling with the kids.
T his room is so cozy and beautiful when it’s all lit up at night. Be sure to follow along on Instagram to see more pictures in the evenings and when it’s glowing.
Thank you all for taking a peek with me today! Now it’s time to head over to Blesser House for some a serious amazement!
