It’s tiiimmmeee!!!! I have been waiting to give our kitchen a major refresh since the day we moved in. Before I dive in, I just want to say that our kitchen was a major selling point for us with this house. The white cabinets, dark hardwoods, big size. I love it and I am so grateful for it. But at the same time it has never really felt exactly like ‘us’. Because we didn’t pick anything in the kitchen, there hav always been elements that we have wanted to change in order for it to feel more like our style, but I always had a hard time painting and making over a brand new kitchen. Soooo.
For the last 5 years I have focused my efforts on decorating all the bedrooms in the house and getting everything else in order. Now it’s time to take a look at our kitchen and finally make it our own!
Black and White Modern Kitchen Refresh
Black Barstools | Mid Modern Light Fixture | Black Range Hood | Black Cabinet Pulls | Black and White Modern artwork | Gray Distressed Sideboard Table | Floating Shelves | Black Dining Chairs | Woven Rug
Here are my big plans for the kitchen! Overall I love so many things about our space already, it just needs to have a good facelift to become a little more our style. Mainly changing out decor, the focal light fixture, changing out the cabinet pulls and potentially adding in some floating shelves for something new! I can’t wait.
I’ll be working with Overstock on phase 1 and I can’t wait to show you how it’s coming together.
Painting Island & Trim Work
Here is a peek at our current kitchen! I still love our live edge dining table so that will be staying. The other huge change happening in this space is that the island and the trim work above it will all be painted white. I went back and fort on the paint color a million times. I have been debating between a dark dark charcoal gray and white, but ultimately I felt like the white would brighten up the kitchen since our floors are already so dark and I am also adding a lot more black decor pieces in here already.
Updating Floating Shelves
I don’t share this angle of the kitchen often because the the counter isn’t always clean lol. But I have also been thinking about changing out the floating shelves for a light wood color, so add some more wood elements to the kitchen.
Kitchen When We Moved In
Here is one of the very first pictures I shared of our kitchen when we first moved in. We have painted the wall since then to Reserved White, but that is really it! I can’t wait to see how this kitchen transforms. If you’ve been following along on my IG Stories you may have caught a few sneak peeks in there!
