Simple Effective Home Security

Thanks For Sharing!

This post is in partnership with Guardline Security. All opinions are 100% my own.

We all need a sense of security, especially in our own homes. We want to feel safe, feel like we have a good pulse on what is going on around us and of course protect our kids and any guests we have over. Today, I wanted to share one simple and effective home security measure you can take with Guardline.

They make awesome outdoor motion sensors that reach up to 1/4 mile and alert you when anything goes past them! I installed two around our own home and I wanted to show you how easy the process is. There are several reasons why this product appealed to me and I wanted to walk you through some of the ways we are using them and also other ways you can too!

There are two places that I wanted to install additional security in our home, the front porch and the back patio. These are the two places where people (or animals!) are likely to approach our home and I may not always hear them or know they are there. I put the first sensor right off our front porch.

I installed both sensors in about 10-15 minutes by myself! They are so easy to set up, it take no time at all. The sensors come with everything you need to install them and since they are wireless you don’t need to worry about finding an outlet. Just a few batteries. You can even install them on a tree if you live out on property.

What I love about this motion sensor is that is reaches 1/4 mile and you can program it to fit your own needs. I angled mine so that the sensor covers both the porch and also the driveway. I was actually really surprised when I would hear the alert go off just when someone is walking or driving up our driveway from right here!

You can also customize the programming to lessen the range. For example, if you have a sidewalk that goes across the front of your yard and don’t want your sensors going off every time someone walks past, you can program that.

Install Alerts For When People Arrive At Your Porch

One of the things that I have struggled with over the years is that I can’t hear our doorbell when I am upstairs. Due to the size of our house and the layout I cannot hear when someone is delivering a package I’ve been waiting for our when a guest is here. I have really been enjoying how I can customize my alerts from inside the house, from the ring tone to the volume and I can also take the reciever with me upstairs so I never miss another package or have a guest waiting too long.

Also, sometimes it’s nice to know when someone is lingering on the front porch who isn’t ringing the door bell!

Motion Sensors For Your Back Patio

The second place I installed the motion sensor is right off our back patio. We had an instance of things getting stolen back here a few years ago and it’s always an uneasy feeling. I’m not as worried about the coyotes back here ever since we put up our fence, but it’s nice to know when there is ANY motion out here, especially at night!

One of the other key features I love about the Guardline motion sensors is that you can customize the settings. I love that you can actually program the sensors so that they only detect motion at night. If you are only worried about things after the sun goes down, it’s nice to have that option so you aren’t being alerted every time your kid goes out the back door! (Yes, I have had to turn my receiver base off a few times because of this lol)

I love that I can now be getting ready for guests to arrive and know that I will hear when they are here! Whether I’m upstairs or in the kitchen prepping food, I always have a heads up when someone is pulling into the driveway. These have been very effective home security for us!

After using the sensors for a week or so, I would definitely recommend these especially for people who live on property and can’t always see what is behind trees or coming their way, or if you have a long driveway and want to know when someone is coming down it.
