Spring Mantel & Home Treasure Swap

Thanks For Sharing!

How many of you have home decor accessories stuffed in a box or tucked on the back of a shelf that you never use or just aren’t your style anymore? Well, I have a lot of those items hanging around, in fact I have an entire section of my garage devoted to them, you can see for yourself here. Anyway, often think how I should donate them or sell them because someone out there might be able to do something cool with them and USE them. I’m SO glad that my friends at Porch.com are giving me the perfect opportunity to do just that.

Eight bloggers were paired up for a Home Treasure Swap where we sent another blogger a few items from our home and get to see how they upcycle them! I love it.

I was paired up with Nancy from Artsy Chicks Rule and she sent me such an amazing box of goodies, so good that I didn’t want to change them at all!

Before Accessories

Here is what I received in my surprise package. I love the mixture of the wood and metal and I thought all of these pieces would look perfect together on my mantel. They have a real eclectic look and they just go. But of course, I wanted to change a few of the pieces up to give them a more modern look to go with my family room.

Eclectic Spring Mantel

Oh how I am loving this little spring refresh with all my fun new goodies!

The wood pieces were a little worn so I decided to give them a more modern look by painting geometric designs on them in a crisp white. It was an easy DIY and it added a new dimension to the mantel.

And I simply spray painted the yellow vase to add another white item.

DIY Pedestal Bowl

I took the two metal pieces and turned them into a pedestal bowl. The last thing I added was a few filler items to bring more spring into the look, a few sprigs and greenery and we are good to go.

Thanks Nancy for giving me the tools to create a new mantel for this season! Now head over to Artsy Chicks Rule to see what she did with the things I sent her!
