I did it! I’m sharing our painted porch ceiling! I was very 50/50 on this project. On one hand I love the look of natural wood and the rustic look it gives. On the other hand, I felt like our back patio was a little dark and needed a fresh new look. We have been in this house for 6 years and don’t plan on leaving anytime soon, so I needed a change!
So do I love it? I think I’m still getting used to the change and now that it’s painted white I see other things that need to change. But let’s take a look.
Painted Porch Ceiling
I feel like the white ceiling makes it feel so much bigger and taller! I have struggled for so long with what to do with the space above the fireplace. I picked up these new planters this week and added some shrubs that do well in the shade. I’m not sure about them up here, I think I might like it better plain.
We also changed out the older light fixture with this new outdoor ceiling fan from Progressive Lighting. We are already enjoying the extra breeze out here on those warmer evenings!
If you need a refresher, here is what the space looking like before with the old light fixture and natural ceiling. I do like the natural wood look too.
This has a much brighter look to it. We plan on painting our exterior next spring. I feel like it will all come together much better once the new house color and trim are up!
We have actually done a lot of work on the patio this spring. I refinished and painted the deck black, you can read all about it here!
