Creating A Chalkboard Wall With ScotchBlue Painter’s Tape and $200 Home Depot Giveaway!

Thanks For Sharing!

painter's tape, scotchblue painter's tape, tape

So my daughter’s room didn’t get 100% completed before baby arrived, BUT at least she was able to move in a few weeks ago! Today, I’m going to share a small portion of her room with you. This will give you a really big glimpse at how much work has gone into this room and what a big transformation has taken place.

Since this is her ‘big girl’ room, I wanted to make it a space for her to not only sleep in but to play in as well. We don’t have a very big house so I wanted her to feel like she had a space of her own to play and create. Which led me to putting in a big chalkboard wall for her enjoyment (plus-I really liked the look of the accent wall!).

IMG_3770

Ta-da! Here is Miss E’s little toddler work station!

IMG_3769

I’m really glad I took the plunge and painted the wall. I love how it looks in her new room and she is absolutely loving it. I love seeing all of her beautiful scribbles all over the wall and seeing how excited she is about it.

The wall was really easy to create, especially using ScotchBlue™ Painter’s Tape.

Here is a quick list of supplies:

–ScotchBlue™ Painter’s Tape

– Primer

– Chalkboard Paint

– Small Roller Brush

– Small Edging Brush

Ok, so are you ready for the before pictures of this wall? You may be, but I’m not sure I am. It’s actually a little embarrassing how this space looked before….

Chalkboard Wall Before After

Keep in mind this was our unfinished guest room + craft + storage + junk room before we turned it into Miss E’s new room!

IMG_3723

Once we cleared out the room, I taped off the wall using ScotchBlue™ Painter’s Tape and gave it a coat of primer.

IMG_2702

Then, using a small foam roller, I applied the chalkboard paint. I needed about two coats to make it really dark and rich.

The roller worked great for the wall but I still needed a small brush for the edges.

IMG_3734

After letting the coat dry, I gently peeled off the tape to show my beautiful straight lines thanks to my ScotchBlue™ Painter’s Tape.

IMG_3770

I added a Vintage Typewriter Desk (see makeover post here), and my chalkboard desk station (see post here) and a few little accessories and now Miss E has a fun area to call her own.

I’m hoping to make some more progress on the room soon, but right now I’m just enjoying some snuggle time with my new baby boy :)

We have this neat nook in the stairway to our basement about 8X8, My husband and I are ready to frame it out for built ins and creating more built in cabinets in our play area in the basement.

Home Depot is where we shop for our supplies!
