The crisp morning fog, the colorful leaves, the pumpkin spiced lattes….ahhh yess, fall is in the air! And do YOU know what else that means? Its FOOTBALL season!!!
I’ve mentioned it before but football is an extremely big deal around our house and with the kickoff of the season comes the start of many football events. The first one being…the Fantasy Football Draft. I’m not sure what your significant other (or you) does for the FF draft, but for my hubby and his group of friends it is equivalent to the Nordy’s anniversary sale for women. There are weeks of preparation, from reading up on the top pics of the season, trying to find the best deal and strategically planning out the day of the event. I’m not kidding when I tell you that their draft takes a total of 8-10 HOURS! And yes, I have sat through and entire draft once and as much as I like football I will NEVER do that again :)
Well this year the draft was held at our house, so Baby E and I hid up stairs while the boys had their fun huddled around the table with lap tops and excel sheets. But before we went into hiding (yes WE, my 6 month old was a huge help :P) we made these festive treats for the boys.
So let’s start to make these Cocoa Krispies Football Treats!
Here is what you need:
-6 c. Cocoa Krispies (these are NOT gluten-free, but you can generally find a GF alternative at Trader Joes or the organic section of your grocery store)
-3 tablespoons of butter
-1 bag marshmallows
-1 can white frosting
How to make the football treats:
1. Melt the butter in a large saucepan on med-high heat
2. Once the butter has melted, pour the bag of marshmallows into the mixture and stir occasionally until completely melted
3. Pour the Cocoa Krispies into the mixture one cup at a time. If the mixture looks extra gooey, add additional cereal.
4. Let the mixture cool for about 10 minutes or until the marshmallows begin to harden
5.Next, coat your hands in butter. Yes, you heard me. (I swear my hands were so hydrated I didn’t need lotion for days!)
6.With your buttered hands, grab a small portion of the mixture and begin to mold it into little footballs (this is definitely more difficult than it looks my friends, it took me a few times to get the hang of it)
7.Using a decorating tip, create the lines on the football with white frosting
8. For an extra touch, serve them on a festive tray at your next event!
What team are you cheering on this season?!

I’m hosting a new weekly meme called Thematic Thursday. Each week has a theme and accept any type of link-up that relates to the theme. This week’s theme is Super Bowl – Football. I’d love to see you link this up! I have this same try which I might use to hold this same recipe!
