A new year. A new room renovation list to conquer! Surprisingly, there is still so much more to go. I shared my list of completed room renovations from 2025, now it’s time to give you a peek into what’s to come! Last year, projects took a little more time than normal. This year, I’m diving straight in and tackling the main areas of our home. With every year that passes, our home is slowly transforming into what I envisioned when we first walked through the doors.
And after this year, I think it’s going to make the biggest impact yet! We are tackling some of the rooms I’ve been anxiously waiting on since we moved in!
2026 Room Renovation List
Here are all the spaces on my list this year! Some of them will for sure happen, some I likely won’t get to and other’s I’ll probably at least start! But here’s a look at what you can expect this year.
Staircase Renovation
Last year, I started our big staircase renovation. This was a major project that will have multiple parts to it and will continue into 2026.
BEFORE

Here’s what the space looked like when we moved in back in 2022.
2025

And here is how they look after a big renovation in 2025. You can read more about the first phase here. This year, I have two more DIY projects to tackle on both sets of staircases to fully complete the look. I’ll be adding DIY picture frame moulding along with a stone accent wall behind the mirror. These won’t be the first projects I tackle this year, but they are on the list!
Main Family Room
Part of the staircase project was to skim coat (aka smooth out all the texture) on our walls and have them freshly painted. Because of the way our house is laid out, we had to tackle the family room walls in the process, which leads us to the first big room renovation of the year!

This room will actually be a fairly easy makeover! It will mainly be hiring out the smoothing of the walls and fresh paint, new furniture, and polishing off the decor. Basically completing the space and making it feel truly intentional.
Up until this point, almost everything in here has been purchased second hand or was brought down with us from Washington. It’s time to reallllly do this space.
There will be one big build project in here that will likely happen as a phase 2. I want to build a custom built-in media center for the whole wall. This will start around the same time that I do our bedroom, so likely later this year!
Laundry Room Makeover

I’ve been tackling a lot of large projects over the last year, I think it’s time to do some quick ones this year too! This laundry room is a bit bigger than our small Washington laundry room, but it’s still not huge. I AM fortunate to have a sink and extra counter top in here, but it’s missing my style, a drying rack, more light and a little more organization. This room is going to be bold, a little more fun and I think I’m going to throw in a few surprises.
See some inspo for this space here.
READING NOOK

The other small space I want to tackle this year is this cute little reading nook in our upstairs hallway. The hallway already got a big makeover last year with freshly smoothed out walls and new paint, which already made it feel like a brand new space. Now I want to finish off this little nook.
I think I want to take the bookcases out and start entirely front scratch in here. Maybe add a day bed or large bench, with reading lights, book niches and a fun bold wallpaper?! Something unexpected and cozy.
Formal Living Room Design

Our formal living room sits right off our entry way. It’s the first room you see when you walk in the front door. I have grown to love the chandeliers, but I’m still iffy on the wallpaper. We’ve added some furniture in here throughout the years to make it functional, but I have yet to make official design plans and truly design it, for real.
I will be removing the wallpaper on the walls (still undecided on the ceiling, we may keep it for now), I have two different design plans for this room and I am still not sure which direction to go!

This now takes us to the opposite side of the room. This room is super large, not the most functional and sometimes it’s been hard for me to design it. I think I have a pretty good idea of what I want but not 100%. My vintage carpenter’s table is staying. This is a piece I will keep forever and I’m obsessed with it. But it’s time to do the rest of the room.
Primary Bedroom Suit

Now that all of the kids’ bedrooms are complete, it’s time to do ours! Finally! I have very big plans for our bedroom, ideas I’ve had since before we even moved in and I cannot wait to see it all come together. This transformation is going to be huge! Stone accent wall, lots of trim work, darker paint color, all new furniture and decor.

I’ve saved this project for last because it will be a large one. It’s not just our bedroom but also a separate connected room that has a fireplace and seating area. It’s going to be a really large project that will likely not be fully completed this year, but at least we will get started!
It will be a length project of removing the carpet and installing hardwoods, removing the wall paper and painting, installing a new fireplace surround and fully decorating it!
Exterior Projects

Every year I tackle a few new exterior projects. I didn’t do as much last year, but this year we have a few small items to check off. We will be replacing the gas lanterns with brand new copper ones, and hopefully having our trim painted to add some more contrast to the exterior.
I can’t wait to get started! Follow along on Instagram for real-time updates!
Will I get to all of these this year?! As the past will tell, no I will not. I do think that I will at least start most of the larger rooms because there are projects that overlap and will be done at the same time.
