Are you ready for some RED, WHITE AND BLUE?! The 4th of July is just weeks away and it’s one of my favorite times of the year. It’s the perfect time to get out the patriotic decor and make some fun treats! Today, I’ve partnered with 110 talented bloggers to bring you the Ultimate Red, White and Blue Roundup (Special thanks to Abbey from The Cards We Drew for coordinating)! I’m showing you how easy it is to whip up some Patriotic Cupcakes, so easy the kids will want to join in on the fun.
You are going to start by making a basic batch of white cupcakes. I used this gluten-free recipe by Barefeet In the Kitchen (I used All-Purpose GF Flour instead and used egg-replacer and rice milk. And I only baked them for 8-10 minutes since I was doing cupcakes). It really is a great recipe!
Divide the batter into three bowls. Put 1tsp of blue food coloring in one, 1 tsp of red coloring in the second and leave the third plain.
Then using a piping bag, fill in the cupcake tins by layering the different batters.
Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until you can pull a toothpick out clean.
Cool and then frost!
I made a basic buttercream frosting using 1 cup of room temperature butter, 4 cups of powdered sugar, 1 Tbsp of milk. You can alway add a little more milk or more powdered sugar to get your desired consistency.
Then just like the batter, divid into three bowls and color with red, white and blue. I put the frosting in piping bags to create the swirls.
And in case you want the cupcake toppers here is the FREE PRINTABLE!
