Little Girls Reading Nook

Thanks For Sharing!
Disclosure: This post is brought to you by Zazzle.

I’m so excited to finally reveal part of Miss E’s new room on the blog!  We just completed her Little Girls Reading Nook and I thought it was about time I gave you a peek.

If you know me by now, you know that I don’t use a lot of color in my decor. In fact it’s a real challenge for me. I LOVE neutrals and always lean that way without even realizing it. BUT my daughter on the other hand… she is all about pink, pink and more pink, glitter, sparkle, ruffles and glam! I’ll admit this has been an adjustment for me. In our old home I tried really hard to keep her room more my style, but in our new home I decided to just go for it and really embrace the pink and more girly decor. And you know what? I’m secretly in love with her room and want to move in!

First of all, I know what you are thinking, “A light couch in a toddler’s room?” Yes, I know I might be crazy but there is a good reason behind it. It’s always been my plan to build her a reading nook in this area. I was going to build her a window bench but as we started to unpack I realized that I didn’t have a place for my favorite couch anywhere else in our home and were planning on selling it when a light bulb went off and I realized it would be perfect in her room. It fits absolutely perfectly into her space and I’m pretty sure it was meant to be. On a side note, I put a white rocking chair in our nursery 4 years ago and it has held up beautifully, so I have hope :)

I really wanted this space to be all about her and make her feel special so I ordered custom throw pillows off Zazzle to complete the space. I could seriously spend hours on that site. I did a mix of both custom designs and designs they already had in their pillow section. I could not be happier with how they turned out!

How adorable is this dish? Would you believe I paid $1.99 for it this weekend? I’m so in love.

Create your own personalized pillows from Zazzle

Her entire room is light pink, mint mixed with a little gold and tied together in a fun vintage Paris theme. I designed the Eiffel Tower pillow and uploaded the image to Zazzle and then found the light pink patterned pillow in the shop.

I love the paring of this green arrow pillow and sweet floral pillow. You can customize the initial too!

And because I’m obsessed with Paris and it’s the theme of her room, I HAD to add a vintage map of Paris! I found this one , it’s huge and really great quality. I’m still trying to find the perfect frame but for now it looks perfect in her reading area.

Book Shelves using IKEA photo shelvesI’m a huge fan of these IKEA photo ledges for holding books. The are only $20 each and are easy to install. Miss E loves being able to look at all her books on display.

Fabric Tassel Window Valence

I went back and forth on adding curtains to this space but ultimately went with a different look and created fabric tassels to act as a valence. I used this great tutorial to make my own using fabric scraps. I think it definitely adds something to the space without having to add full window treatments.

I feel like every room needs a pouf these days! I’m loving the trend and loving this gold-polka-dot pouf. Did you know that you can even design your own poufs over at Zazzle?

Girls Room Printables

I lucked out and found these free printables online that matched her room’s them perfectly. (Download here: Customizable Circle Print – Proverbs 31:25 –  Arrow Set )

We had so much fun designing this space together! And yes, Miss E was full of opinions and ideas and helped me with every decision including all of the pillows. I can’t wait to show you the entire room, but we still have a few more surprises we are working on :)

If you are looking for fun throw pillows and home decor, be sure to check out what Zazzle has to offer. I am really impressed with the quality and selection!

    Taryn,

It is absolutely adorable! I love how color is present in such light airy ways. And I can totally see why you decided to use your couch in there…it works great.

Hi Taryn! Did you create the other 2 pro tables that are on the wall next to the two freebies or did you locate them elsewhere?

        Hi Taryn,

Would you be able to send me the graphic image you used to customize the eiffel tower pillow? I’d love to replicate it for my dauther’s nursery. Thanks!! :)

Very nice! I love the colors. We like those picture ledges as bookshelves as well. We used them in our playroom makeover.
