Book Page Garland For All Seasons

Thanks For Sharing!

Simple and easy craft made from recycled materials that costs nothing? Yes, my friends that is what I have in store for you today.

If you remember my Christmas Vignette, you may have noticed that I included book pages in several different elements including the wreath, the runner and the filler for one of the vases. Book pages are one of the easiest and most inexpensive ways to add a little something to your decor…that’s if you can bring yourself to rip up a perfectly good book :)

It just so happens that my Christmas tree sits in the same room as the vignette and I really wanted to include some book pages into the tree decor to really tie the whole room together. So alas, I created some super simple book page garland using old book pages, my Silhouette cutting machine and my sewing machine. That’s it.

And the best thing about this garland is that you can use it year round. You can easily use this for every holiday mantel or display and even birthday parties. Or may be just because!

I started by cutting about 400 1  1/4″ circles using my Silhouette cutting machine. I just patched together the book pages onto the cutting mat and cut away. I was able to cut about 44 circles per mat so it really didn’t take that long.

Next, I sat at my sewing machine with my foot fixed on the pedal and pushed the circles through the machine. Seriously the easiest sewing job I have EVER done. I ended up making 3-4 separate strands to keep them from tangling and making it easier to handle.

You could also use a bright colored thread for fun accent color that really pops. But I chose to keep it neutral so I can use them year round.

And maybe if I get my act together and actually take some good pictures of my tree, I’ll show you how it looks on it :)

This looks great, Taryn! I did a similar one with scrapbook paper for my daughter’s birthday. I had seen this idea and was hoping to bang it out with Christmas decorations but I think it’s going to have to wait until next year at this point :) Love it!!

What a cute project! Never would’ve thought to do this on a sewing machine. Way easier than doing it by hand!

Love the book page idea! I made a similar garland with bright colors for my daughter’s birthday decorations a couple of years ago. You’re right, the easiest sewing job ever :) Happy Holidays!

I adore this. I think I’m going to have to make this for what I’ve started to call my “reading room” !

This is one of the reasons I really want a sewing machine! I would use a garland like this all year.
