Rustic Winter Vignette

Hope everyday had a great weekend! I had several posts planned for last week but getting back into a routine after the holidays proved to be challenging! Was anyone else struggling last week? After a great weekend and a Seahawks win, I’m refreshed and ready for a new week.

I’ve been busy organizing, purging and cleaning the house like crazy. There is something about the month of January that inspires me to get our house back under control (like it ever was) and it’s been really nice to work on projects and check things off the list. While decluttering our house from the Christmas decor, I just couldn’t put all of it away. I really felt drawn to winter decor this year and wanted to add a few subtle touches to our home. I decided to keep up a Rustic Winter Vignette in our kitchen area.
 I found that rustic door on a local buy/sell/trade site last summer and I HAD to have it. I’ve been saving it for the nursery, but over the past few months I’ve loved having it on display in the dining area, it’s been such great backdrop. I thought I’d use it one more time before putting it in it’s ‘permanent’ home. That is a very loose term around here since I move things around almost every day.

To add a winter look, I created this simple garland using by cutting out snowflakes on my Silhouette and added a few pinecones. It took me just a few minutes and I love the look it added to the display.

I found these lanterns at Michaels back in the fall and I’ve used them so much. I love the shape and the wood color.

I also found these cable knit ceramic vases at Michaels this winter. I just love them. Such a cozy look for this time of year without being over powering.
