I love a good challenge and I love being inspired by how other people think, which makes today’s post super fun! If you were given only 2X4’s to work with (plus hardware) what would you make? A group of us took the challenge and today I’m sharing my project. I used a basic 2X4 from my scrap wood pile and turned it into a DIY Test Tube Vase Display with a farmhouse flare.
Test Tube Vase Display

This was super easy, a project anyone can do!

I finished off the wood vase with a simple handwriting script and stenciled ‘ bloom’ on it.
I’m also giving you a peek into some recent changes to our family room! I can’t wait to give you a big tour soon.
Wooden Vase SUPPLIES
- 1 2X4X16 piece of wood
- 3/4″ Wood Boring Bit
- Classic Gray Stain
- Satin Sealer
- 5 Test Tubes
- Stencil
- White Paint
Easy DIY Farmhouse Vase
Cut your board to 16″

Sand down the edges

For the holes, I started 2″ in, and then marked them 3″ a part.
Every new project I do is trial and error. I originally used a 3/8 bit but then realized it was a tad too small so I had to make the holes bigger with the 3/4.

I gave it two coats of Minwax Classic Gray stain.

Used my Silhouette to make a stencil in a fun font, and then painted it white.
Taryn, this is SO cute!!!! Adding the stencil to the front was the perfect touch! Love
Taryn, I can always count on you for high style… and this gorgeous vase take is no exception! This is gorgeous!
I love this Taryn! It shows how easy it can be to add beauty to a home with just a few supplies. The stenciling on the front is a beautiful.
