Sometimes It Just Takes A New Lamp

Disclosure: This post is brought to you buy Lamps.com. All opinions are 100% my own.

Happy Saturday my friends!

How many of you are busy with weekend projects? Working on anything exciting? I’m busy working on Miss E’s room and getting ready for baby to arrive, while I am planning going another few weeks, I have to be prepared for any moment. Eeek!

I find that I am always posting new projects here on the blog, but always seem to forget about keeping you updating on how rooms evolve after a big reveal. Because let’s face it, it happens. In my house nothing stays the same for too long.

So today, I’m talking about some updates I’ve made to the family room recently. It’s the room we live in the most, so it get used A LOT. A few months ago, my favorite lamp in the entire house got knocked over (not sure how) and shattered. Tear.

DIY Family Room Makeover by Design, Dining + Diapers

Here is the lamp in my reveal post. I loved it. I bought it at a discount store for $20 (what a steal) and it was one of my favorite purchases for our house. Well, it was completely beyond repair.

So in the mean time, I replaced it with a lamp from another room in the house that we don’t use very often. I’ve gone back and forth with this lamp. Sometimes I like it, sometimes I think it’s too tradition/contemporary for our home. But regardless it served as a nice lamp in the mean time. But it just didn’t really fit our industrial vintage room.

And then I found it! I found a new lamp for this space. I ended up picking out this Dimond – Clear HGTV Table Lamp from Lamps.com. They have a whole collection of HGTV lighting products and this is one of them.

I love how it had the same glass base that my old lamp had, and yet it added a new dimension of texture with the cork shade.

The lamp does require some moderate assembly when it arrives, but it also includes directions that are easy to follow.

I really like how it picks up the tones in the wood side table that I made over last summer. It blends perfectly.

The only issue, if you would call it that, I have with this lamp is that it doesn’t give off a ton of light. I’m used to having a light colored shade in this space and the cork seems to make it a little darker. But I still love how it looks.

I could also see this lamp looking great in a coastal space!

You can purchase your own Dimond – Clear HGTV Table Lamp from Lamps.com. They also have tons of other beautiful lamps, pendant lights, outdoor lights, etc. You can also follow them on Facebook, Pinterest and Google +.

Ok, time to get back to Miss E’s room. I promise to have more updates for you this week!

Your new lamp is great, good luck with it. Love the shape. Tell your family, no tossing pillows to knock it over. Do you have a rug under the table to cushion a fall? I”ve never seen a cork shade, oh the ideas of things to snazzy it up.
We have doggoned ceramic tile in too many places so things have gotten broken I’ve been pretty upset about. Our cat gets a wild hair and jumps up on the stand by our bathroom window, knocks things off. I’ve had to learn not to put things I treasure up there cause we have ceramic tile in bathroom and Kitchen, hallways, mudroom. In the winter cat gets crazy and jumps up on kitchen counter sometimes, he gets cabin fever pretty bad. Him and dog run thru the house for their jollies. Dog is a 75 lb. black lab/border collie. It’s hilarious to watch them until they break something or knock something over.

Was it “not me” that knocked over the lamp? We have a him living in our house too :) It’s a nice new lamp, loving the shade!

Staircase reveal part one! SWIPE for the before an Staircase reveal part one! SWIPE for the before and to see all the details. This has been a major project over the course of the last 7 months, and it has been so exciting to see it all come together. My goal was to create an elegant and timeless look to our staircases, adding character with unique features of the railings, classic neutral runners with gold stair rods to complete the look and a moment for the large luxe chandelier that you can see from the courtyard. And of course a fresh look with smooth creamy walls.

But I’m not entirely done just yet! Part 2 will be coming in 2026!
