Small Changes, Big Impact

Oh, there is an app for that? Then count me in! My iPhone is my life and not just because it keeps me connected to social media and allows me to do my job from anywhere. It has become a command center for organizing our family, syncing calendars and even controlling aspects of our home! Yes. Did you know it’s possible to unlock your front door using your iPhone? I’ve partnered with Schlage® to upgrade our front door with the Schlage Sense Smart Deadbolt that is designed to work with Apple HomeKit technology. This small change is making a big impact on our daily life.

Schlage Sense Keyless Door Entry

Whenever I look into new fixtures or technology products for our home, one of the first things I look at are the design options. It’s no surprise that I want everything in our home to blend with our style and not look misplaced. We love sleek modern finishes so naturally I was excited to see Schlage® offer so many different design options when it comes to both the handle and the Schlage Sense Smart Deadbolt.  I found a black matte modern handle and keypad that looked like it came with our home. There really is something for everyone!

Schlage Sense Door Handle and Keyless Entry

I did the installation myself and it was relatively simple. It took me about 1.5 hours to replace our existing door handle and switch out the dead bolt with the Schlage Sense Smart Deadbolt and set it up. Our previous set up was very similar to the new one, so all of the holes aligned and I only had to make one tiny structural change to the door. Otherwise, it was a breeze. If I can do it, you can do it!

Schalge Sense Keypad

I am loving so many things about this keyless lock. For one, you can program up to 30 codes (family, house sitter, cleaners, etc.). I really hate leaving a key hidden outside for people to use when we are in a pinch, so this will be an awesome solution. Just give them their own code. And I LOVE that it has remote access. What about those times when you are gone longer than expected and need a neighbor to let the dog out but they have no way of getting in? You can unlock the bolt from the app on your phone. Done.

And let’s be honest, I’m actually locked myself out of our house before with the kids and now I don’t have to worry about that. hehe.

Entering the Door

Ok. For those of you wondering more about how the remote access works. The Schlage Sense Smart Deadbolt is designed to work with Apple HomeKit technology, so you have to connect it via bluetooth to your Apple TV and then connect it to your phone. The HomeKit also lets consumers control their Schlage Sense Smart Deadbolt with their voice using Siri. You know, so those times when your hands are full and you are holding your phone, you can just ask her to unlock the door. It takes a little bit of time to set up, but they have great instructions online.

Anyway, I’m so excited to play around even more and explore all the options. But for now, I’m really loving it.

This sounds like a “toy” up my husband’s alley. May have to add this to his wish list! Visiting from Inspiration Monday party.

My goal was to create a cozy yet elegant space where we can kickback and relax and also entertain. I wanted to keep the neutral tones and use the dark beams as a starting point for the design. Adding comfortable furniture but also a statement chandelier and vintage inspired accents.

Phase 2: building a custom, built-in media center coming later this year!

It’s often the final finishing touches that truly transform the vibe of a room. I picked up some final styling pieces from @wayfair , I am obsessed with both side tables. They are both statement pieces. And the personal photos, candle, heart trays and leather pillows are why bring the warmth and personal touches into this space.

I finally found the perfect family and pet-friendl I finally found the perfect family and pet-friendly sofa that passes the designer test! This is the 5-Seat Modular Corner Sectional from @7thavenueco in the color Oatmeal Beige. We ordered it in the extra-deep seat option for ultimate coziness. The material is water-repellent, stain-resistant and you can also throw all covers in the wash!

We cannot say enough great things about this sofa, we all love it and just sink into it. It definitely passes the family test. Plus, it truly is gorgeous. It looks very chic.

Comment SOFA and I’ll send you the link to this exact one!
