Have you heard of the SkyBell Video Doorbell? It is an amazing invention that allows you to not only see visitors at your door, but talk to them too! The video doorbell is connected to an app on your iPhone, Android, or tablet and you receive a popup call from the SkyBell app every time someone rings your door bell. You can be inside your home or thousands of miles away! I seriously love this thing!
Today, you have the chance to win your own SkyBell Video Doorbell for your own home (retails for $199) but first I’m going to show you how easy it is to install it.
I was so excited to install the SkyBell at our home, but unfortunately we don’t have a wired doorbell (which is a requirement), so we installed it at our friends’ house instead. Our loss, their gain!
We simply removed the existing doorbell and then screwed on the plate attachment that came with the SkyBell. There are a few plate options in case you want to angle your camera.
Then, you connect the wires and twist on the SkyBell. You’ll need to let it charge for a few minutes before use.
I am really impressed with the app! It has a lot of different features that I just love. As a mom who still has a baby that naps, I love that you can disable the door chime inside your home! Instead of having to place a sign on your door, you can just click the button from your app, you won’t hear a sound inside and you will still get a notification on your phone when someone comes to the door.
The motion sensor is also a great feature. The only issue I have is that it takes a solid 10 seconds of movement before the app will alert you that someone is at the door. I wish it was instant. However, if you are ever suspicious that someone is there, you can always manually turn on the camera and check in on your porch.
This is a screen shot of what will pop up on your phone when someone rings the doorbell. You can choose to answer it and talk to your visitor or just end the call and answer the door. The camera has a fairly large radius, but the full range will obviously be dependent on where your doorbell is located. Our friends’ was in the corner of their door, so you lose a little visibility with the wall.
The SkyBell is not only a fun gadget to make life easier but it is also perfect for added security when you are away.

Yes! It does save video for a certain period of time. There is an ‘activity log’ in the app dashboard and it keeps the last few videos in case you ever need to use them for break ins etc.

I love that I can see who is at the door without having to go to the door. We have a glass insert and sometimes I don’t want to answer but can’t look through a “peep hole” without the person seeing me.

I am obsessed with this! Being a new mom – I want to do everything in my power to protect my little man. Our front door has no windows, so I often get nervous to answer the door. Love being able to see who is at the door from my phone. Especially, since I get tied up with taking care of Luke – love being able to just see who it is and whether or not I would like to answer! Crossing my fingers!
Ps. I can’t change my answer as to my instagram name, but I forgot the s on the end of my name – my IG account is: @calliebowers
