Who else is always looking for the perfect mattress to help get that perfect night of sleep? Maybe it’s the fact that we are now in our mid-thirties and early forties, but I feel like this is a very common conversation among our friends right now! Between being a sleep deprived parent and simply getting older, SLEEP becomes a big deal! My husband and I have been having the big conversation lately about needing a new mattress and trying to find one that worked well for both of us and our needs. We decided to make a change and try out a Purple Mattress. We’ve heard great things about them, but honestly didn’t know a lot when we started this process. So I want to share with you what we learned and give you a full Purple Mattress Review!

Purple Mattress Store

First things first. I highly recommend finding a Purple Mattress Store near you and heading in for a tour. If you don’t have a Purple Store in your area, they are sold at larger mattress stores as well. We had such a great experience at the store, the team members were AMAZING to chat with and incredibly knowledgable about the mattresses. Plus the Purple Store is gorgeous and full of eye candy. Did I you know they sell more than just mattresses?

When you head into the store they have cozy “bedrooms” set up where you can safely test out the different types of Purple Mattresses they offer. Can I be totally honest? I actually didn’t know that there were multiple styles of mattresses, I thought there was only one “Purple Mattress”. Aside from the original Purple Mattress, they have the Purple Hybrid which is a combination of the 2? gel Grid and wrapped stainless steel coils, and the Purple Hybrid Premier, which has either 3 or 4″ Purple grid making this mattress one of the firmer options. My husband and I both prefer a more firm mattress. We tried out every style to feel the difference between all of them. The 2″ grid is definitely softer, but we were both immediately drawn to the Purple Hybrid Premier 4. It was the most comfortable to both of us right away.

Setting Up Your Purple Mattress

Setting up your Purple Mattress is so easy, well for the most part! I will warn this mattress is actually SUPER heavy. We were actually surprised how heavy it was for the two of us. If you have the opportunity for it to be delivered directly to your bedroom, choose that option :)

I actually love that it comes in a big branded Purple bag. It’s a fun touch. Anyway…

Once you remove the bag, carefully cut the wrap off and watch it expand into shape. This part is really entertaining! It only takes a few minutes, so don’t blink!

All ready to go! That’s honestly all there is to it!

So What’s Inside A Purple Mattress?

I’ve talked about the grid system, but it also helps to visualize it. This is a miniature sample of what the famous Purple grid looks like inside the mattress. It actually sits on top. With our Purple Hybrid Premier 4, we have a 4″ grid.

The grid technology is actually really amazing. Instead of sinking into your mattress, the Purple grid actually cradles your body, putting less pressure your hips and back. This is something we are already noticing in the short time we’ve had this mattress! My husband is a bigger guy and always complains that our previously mattresses start to dip, putting a lot of pressure on his joints. After the very first night of sleeping on our Purple mattress he could already feel the difference! He said he didn’t toss and turn nearly as much as he has in the past and didn’t wake up as often throughout the night.

The grid is also temperature-neutral, meaning it won’t absorb your body heat, but will remain the same cool temp throughout the night.

Purple Mattress Review

Ok, here is my official Purple Mattress review. So far, I can honestly say that we are both enjoying our Purple Hybrid Premier 4 Mattress SO MUCH. We are both pretty particular and we have both seen a big impact on our sleep in a short amount of time.

It’s really interesting to sleep on a Purple Mattress, it’s definitely a different sleep experience. But in a good way. You truly feel like you are floating on top of the mattress. We have both already noticed the temperature-neutral grid and the way our bodies feel when we wake up.
