Our home, or my canvas as I like to call it, has been ‘in-progress’ for awhile now! My husband bought our house back in 2005, when he was in his bachelor days. It was any single guy’s dream home with 1,700 sq. feet to lounge in, a 62” flat screen to watch football and play video games, over-sized couches and a manly bed set. And that was it, literally. Those were the only pieces of furniture in a four-bedroom house!
About a year later I entered into the picture and things slowly began to change. A picture frame here and there, a few candles, I even replaced the 1980’s laundry basket with a nice wicker one. He must have liked the girlie decor because he eventually put a ring on my finger and that’s when the real transformation began. Once we got engaged the house was half mine (at least that’s what I told myself), and I didn’t waste any time.
Our house was one of THOSE houses. Yes, the one you walked into and thought, “Welllll, it has potential”. It was built in 1997 with your standard builder’s grade material. Not an old house necessarily, but not new one either and it didn’t help that the previous owners were obviously not big on cohesiveness (to put it gently). The house was in need of a major face-lift and I was ready for it.
Sadly, I did not take before pictures of the whole house. At the time, I did not want memories of the chaos, now I wish I would have snapped a few pics to prove that we actually have made progress! To date, we have painted the entire house (ceilings, wall, and molding), installed new blinds, re-carpeted (bye-bye blue), renovated the guest bathroom, designed a modern nursery, installed new lighting and slowly began to furnish and decorate. However, I’m already rethinking some of those earlier paint colors and finding new inspiration (story of my life). That pretty much gets you up to speed on my mission of turning the once bachelor pad into a cozy home!

You have a beautiful home, and we have the same taste in bathroom basins :)
I like that it was the Misters house and you’ve moved in and putting your girly homely touches on the place making it a home
