You may have noticed a special little something in my post last week and I’m here to share all the details on our newest addition!
MEET TIMBER!
Timber was born on February 22 and we were finally able to bring him home a few weeks ago! We found a breeder we loved in Eastern Washington and took a little family road trip to pick him up. We have been counting down the days for months!
Timber is an English Cream Golden Retriever. I grew up with Golden Retrievers and we wanted to get another Golden puppy but this time went with an English Cream. This breed stays lighter in color even through adult hood and tends to be even more mellow than an American Golden and tend to have a lower cancer rate. After losing our sweet Kona Girl to cancer over the holidays, this was something that was important to us. I did a lot of research before picking the English Cream breed and I am so happy we did!
How Did We Pick The Name?
Everyone loves a good name and the story behind it! We tend to like more unique and different names and knew we wanted to stick with our trend for this pup. Living in the Pacific Northwest and loving nature, we were looking for a name that was very ‘mountainy’. We did a lot of brain storming and list making. I even looked through every mountain range and mountain in the world trying to find the perfect name! But all five of us had to like it. It came down to Timber and Glacier. In the end, all three of our kids were really loving Timber so we went with that. And it fits.
He is just one big fluff ball. He has acquired many other nick names in the past few weeks like ‘snowball’, ‘polar bear’ and ‘little bunny foo foo’.
The Puppy Phase
To be honest, I was a little scared of the puppy phase and the chaos I expected to come with it. I feel like we just left the baby phase and here we are back at it. But it has been far from that. Timber has been the best puppy, he is doing amazing with potty training and sleeping through he night. He has transitioned so well into our family and we couldn’t be more in love.
Our dogs are like family members to us. We are definitely ‘dog people’ and Timber has been the best addition.
He’ll be making appearances on the blog from time to time and definitely on Instagram. So be sure to follow over there :)
