Confession time, one of my major guilty pleasures is a fabulous bowl of frozen yogurt. I love it any time of the year, no matter the temperature, but there is nothing better than frozen yogurt in the summer time. I’ve toyed with the idea of making my own frozen yogurt for a while now and finally decided to give it a shot. My first try was a success so I decided to share my recipe for Homemade Tropical Frozen Yogurt.
Fresh tropical fruit combined with vanilla greek yogurt and fresh mint, soooo delicious!
For this recipe I used a combination of fresh pineapple, mango, kiwi and strawberries.
The whole process is really easy, the hardest part is actually cutting the fruit. Well, it’s actually not that hard if you have the right tools. I have always been a huge fan of OXO (I whole heartedly believe they make some of the best kitchen gadgets), so naturally I did a little happy dance when received a box of their hottest fruit tools to help with this recipe.
The Strawberry Huller and the Melon/Kiwi Scoops worked great, but I was most excited about the Pineapple Slicer and the Mango Splitter. Oh my word, I am in LOVE. I honestly didn’t know what I was missing. The Mango Slicer is definitely the most practical since I pretty much destroy every mango I cut, but the way the Pineapple Slicer works is seriously mind boggling. I now know what I am giving every bride-to-be this year :)
Once all of my fruit was cut, I sliced it and placed it into a food processor. I pulsed it just a few times to really chop it up and then drained the juices.
To create the frozen yogurt, I combined the fruit, sugar and honey vanilla greek yogurt. Note: I tend to like things sweet, but if you prefer more tart yogurt then I would leave out the extra sugar.
At this point, I would use an ice cream maker if I had one. But since I don’t, I simply put the yogurt into a large plastic bowl and placed it in the freezer. Allow at least 12 hours for it to freeze.
Then serve! Perfect way to enjoy a nice summer day :)
Homemade Tropical Frozen Yogurt
- 1/2 pineapple
- 1 mango
- 3 strawberries
- 3 kiwis
- 8 oz container of honey vanilla greek yogurt
- 1 cup sugar
- fresh mint (optional)
- Slice the fruit and place it into a food processor. Pulse 1-2 times or until the fruit is evenly chopped. Be careful not to over process, you still want the fruit in chunks.
- Strain the chopped fruit.
- Combine the fruit with the greek yogurt and sugar, mix thoroughly.
- Place into an ice cream maker or place in a large plastic container and freeze for 12 hours.
- Garnish with fresh mint and serve.
Enjoy!

LOVE this recipe! I think it’d be fun for the kids to use the ice cream maker. But just popping it into the freezer is just fine by me! It is the perfect treat for a summer afternoon… while we’re out playing tractors and digging for dinosaur fossils in the sandbox!

You’re making this look too easy! I sometimes refrain from these types of things, but I’ve had strawberry yogurt bars on my list for a very long time. Costco sells some delicious ones that my kids just devour and I know that I can make them with my Vitamix for these things – easy breezy. But now I just need to go for it. Thanks for the push! Might have to do that this weekend. This looks devine though. I will try it. Who doesn’t love Mango, Strawberry and Pineapple, right?
