Have You Been Naughty or Nice Today?

Thanks For Sharing!

I have a super fun announcement for all of you today. In case you haven’t heard, I am the newest contributor to The 36th Avenue! I have been a HUGE fan of Desiree’s and I am so honored to be part of her team. Seriously, it’s like a dream come true. Last week, I posted my first project over there and today, I’m sharing it with all of YOU :)

I have a fun little Holiday craft for all of you today. How many of you have kiddos around the house? My daughter is only 20 months but I am already prepping for the days when she realizes that Santa only leaves gifts for kids on the NICE list!

So to make sure being NICE is a daily act, I made this fun little chalkboard frame that will sit right out on the counter. It will be a little reminder to say extra pleases, thank you’s and to pick up toys!

Here are the supplies I used for my Naughty or Nice Chalkboard Frame. You’ll also need a 4X6 wooden frame, cardboard and a few paint brushes :)

Start by prepping your frame with a base coat. When working with unfinished wood, I create a 50/50 mixture for the base coat using a Multi-Purpose Sealer and my desired color. Two coats was all I needed for this.

Next, cut a piece of cardboard to fit the frame and apply 3 coats of chalkboard paint. 2 coats horizontally and 1 coat vertically. Allow 1 hour between each coat.

For the wording, I used my Silhouette CAMEO to create the Naughty or Nice sign and check boxes. I cut the design out in vinyl and used it as a stencil. I used 2 coats of the Americana Warm White paint, the same paint I used on the frame, and carefully pulled off the stencil to reveal the design.

I also used my Silhouette to create a stencil for the wording on the outside of the frame and painted it in Americana Santa Red (so fitting!).

To add a little embellishment, I brought out my favorite Martha Stewart Silkscreen Stencils to add a few snowflakes to the frame.

Now, add a little piece of chalk and you are all set to make your check mark for the day!

So what about you, have YOU been naughty or nice today?! :)

Congrats on your contributor gig! I love The 36th Avenue and look forward to seeing you over there :)

I love this little sign. It would be perfect for our 5 year old as a “behavior” chart for Christmastime.

This is cue! My son came up with this idea and his version is on our refrigerator. I’ve been thinking that I should make someting more permanent like this! Fun!

Such a fun idea! I think my kids would really get a kick out of this one! Or at least it might encourage them to behave! =)

This is such a cute idea! I have a niece who is just old enough this year to understand the whole idea behind Santa visiting the kids on his nice list. I’ll have to make something like this for her. Thanks for the fun idea!
