Our summers here in the Pacific Northwest are like no other. They are my favorite and we often say that they make up for the rest of the cloudy months. The beautiful scenery, the 85 degree weather with a slight breeze and a nice glass of wine :) We are fortunate to live near tons of gorgeous wineries that make for a wonderful summer outing.
A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to dine at DeLille Cellars with the amazing people behind Sur La Table and Fortessa Tableware. Being able to connect with people who share the same interest and love for design, food and the simple things in life is rejuvenating. I walked away from this even on a complete high from the amazing conversations, food and gorgeous setting. Since I love to entertain (and I know many of you do too!), I wanted to share with you some of the highlights from the event as a source of inspiration.
The event not only featured amazing company, but delicious food and gorgeous glassware by Fortessa. The new Schott Zwiesel Air collection is a collaboration between Prince Carl Philip of Sweden with his design firm Bernadotte & Kylberg and Schott Zwiesel. Every piece is simply stunning. I love how the design is completely versatile, it can go with a modern table setting or a classic one.
They set up such an amazing event for us. The table settings were fresh and simple yet inviting. Fresh flowers can definitely go a long way!
I think this is my favorite photo from the event. These glasses are truly a piece of art. Each Air Sense glass is individually handmade and mouth blown (wow!). The decantation sphere in the bowl is both aesthetically appealing and functional, providing additional aeration to bring out complex flavors in the wine.
And everyone loves a good picture of a dahlia :) These colors were amazing.
Let’s chat about the food for a second. We had the opportunity to eat the delicious creations of National Chef of Sur La Table, Joel Gamoran, and Chopped Champ, Ryan Ross. Having them prepare the food in front of us and explain it in detail was a true treat.
The night started with prawn ceviche with pickled summer melon, black sesame and shiso paired with Roussanne 2014…
… and then we moved onto a beautiful and fresh salad paired with Chaleur Estate Blanc 2014.
Then onto the main course! This was absolutely amazing. Fig and Lamb Sausage with corn milk grits and mustard greens, paired with D2 2013.
And of naturally every course was paired with an amazing wine. These Air Glasses incorporate titanium and zirconium into the glass which make them durable, chip & scratch resistant, and dishwasher safe. Yes please! They also feature the thinnest, lightest Tritan stems and bowls available that make them extremely light weight.
And dessert! It was so much fun learning more about the Fortessa tableware. And if you haven’t heard of them yet, you have probably used them before. Did you know they are in over 70% of Forbes Four and Five star hotels in North America? Their brands include Fortessa, Schott Zwiesel, D&V, and Zwiesel 1872. Their products can be found in fine retailers nationwide, including Sur La Table stores and at Surlatable.com
And I had to share this gorgeous hand made ice bucket with flowers. Definitely an idea I want to recreate.
It was such a wonderful evening and if you are in the market for new glassware I highly recommend looking into the Air and Air Sense glasses. They can be found at Sur La Table, one of my very favorite kitchen stores based out of Seattle (they have several other locations too). I love browsing through all of their fun gadgets and cookware.
Here is a little video about the event!
