This blog is often filled with pretty pictures of new spaces in our home and new DIY trends, but there is so much more that happens inside these walls. Last month, I shared a glimpse into our every day life with a real house tour, I opened up and showed you what life is like with three little kids and a dog and how crazy our house can be. But not matter how chaotic it can feel at times, I love stepping back and enjoying the simple moments of being a mom and raising our precious kiddos.
Sometimes it’s hard not to think about the million things on the to-do list, the pile of laundry that seems to grow and grow and grow and never gets folded, the dishes that I never seem to be caught up on (I mean, who likes hand washing anyway), the projects that need to be completed, the blog posts that need to be written, the text messages I need to return, emails that need responding to, and the fact I haven’t planned dinner.
For me, this year has been about finding balance. A word that we talk so often about but yet seem to have such a hard time living out. I’ve been trying really hard to have designated work time, designated time with the kids and I’ve been changing up our schedule so that we can really enjoy those simple moments in life.
With my daughter in full-time school this year, it has really opened my eyes just how fast the years go and how much can change in such a short amount of time. I’ve been trying to figure out how to have more time with each kiddo and do something special with them. After we get back from the bus stop each morning, the baby goes down for his morning nap and I have this new found mommy-and-me time with my middle boy. He is my little helper. The one who wants to be right by my side in the kitchen, doing chores and anything else I’m doing. When I ask him what he wants to do during our free time, it’s always baking. And baking in cameo pi’s with messy hands.
And after baking we spend a little time cleaning up. He is the ONE kid who doesn’t like messes and likes to clean and pick up things (I’m going to embrace this for as long as I can!). This past week I brought out the Bona Floor Mop to do some touchups to the floors after our baking session and he insisted on doing them himself. It’s these moment that I don’t want to forget.
The moments, when we was so proud of himself for cleaning the floors and doing a really good job. The times when he thinks it’s cool to clean the house and doing things with his mom!
I am truly cherishing these mornings we have together before he heads of to pre-school next year. I love our quiet times together no matter if it’s sitting on the couch cuddled up watching shows, baking treats, playing superheroes or cleaning the house together. Thanks Bona for helping us share more simple moments together and for helping me keep my floors clean! Double bonus!
