Earlier this month I participated in UCreates’s Handmade Ornament Series! It was so much fun and I loved seeing what everyone created. Today, I’m showing you the post I shared on how to make Modern Duct Tape Ornaments in just 30 minutes!
You can easily make these while sitting in from of the TV or when you need something to keep you occupied in the car or on-the-go (not driving of course) because you only need Duct Tape to make them. Yes, that is the only material. Just throw a roll in your purse and you are ready to craft. For mine, I used the metallic silver and white Duct Tape.
However, I did add some fishing line to the top to help hang them from the tree! But that is just a minor detail you own’t need until the end :)
So pretty and classy, would you have guessed these were Duct Tape?
Start with your base piece. This will determine the length of your ornament, mine is 6″ but you could also make that smaller or larger. Fold one side into the middle and press.
Then fold the other side in.
You will repeat this until you have 5 pieces. Mine measure (1) at 6″ (2) at 6 1/2″ (2) at 7″.
Take a small piece and fold over the edge. Then, grab all of your pieces together, in the order of the layout above. The smallest piece should be in the middle and the largest pieces on the outside. Then tape around.
Then, put the opposite ends together and tape. This will automatically create the design.
You can see them on my tree here!
Here are a few other ornaments I’ve made over the years :
