DIY Vase Makeover

Thanks For Sharing!

Disclosure: This post is in partnership with DecoArt. All opinions and creative decisions are my own.

Need a little project to get you through the next few weeks?! I’ve got a project for you that you can do with old vases laying around the house and some paint. I am loving the natural ceramic vases this season, but if you don’t want to spend the extra cash to get the look or let’s face it we aren’t going out shopping right now, I want to show you how to get the look using paint! I completed this DIY Vase Makeover using the new DecoArt Suede Paint found at Michaels Stores and it gives such a great textured look.

I love how they look in our entry way. They give it a great organic textured look. And the best part is, all I did was upcycle some old vases I had in storage.

How To Get The Ceramic Vase Look

I started with these older vases I haven’t used in a few years. They weren’t terrible at all, but they were a little shiny for my liking so I thought this was the perfect opportunity to change their finish and give them a completely different look. You can do this project on any old vases you have around the house. I know we all have them!

Supplies

  • DecoArt Suede Paint in Mauve and Charcoal
  • Foam Brushes

Faux Ceramic Vases

I used the charcoal suede paint and the mauve suede paint for this project. The charcoal is definitely more of a brown than gray but it gives a really pretty natural look to the vase.

When applying the paint, you want to use the brush in a cross-X motion, to help spread the grainy texture and give it the look of a suede or natural texture.

The second vase I did in the mauve. It’s a great earth tone color that still gives a pop but also keeps things neutral.

Just a simple project that you can do while using something you have around your house and some paint! You can order it online at Michaels Stores.

Happy crafting. Hope you all take a second out of your day to enjoy yourselves. Even the kids can help with this one!

Neat easy project and the mauve does add a pop. Where did you get that navy black chain?
