We’ve been adding little bits of Easter around the house this week. I love that it gives us something to look forward to in a time of so many unknowns. We know we get to celebrate as a family next Sunday and that means so much. The kids and I made these DIY Painted Easter Eggs this week using the brand new Decoart Enchanted Paints. You can find them at all Michaels Stores.
DIY Painted Easter Eggs

Ok. These Decoart Enchanted paints are SO much fun. They really exceeded my expectations and were a lot of fun to play around with. There are so many different ways you can apply the paint and top coats, but I really like how they pop with the Ultra Black Basecoat.

I have a thing for black and white decor and I’m known to take an unconventional twist to holiday decor. These DIY painted Easter Eggs are no exception. I thought it would be fun to create a modern glam Easter centerpiece.

Painting Wooden Easter Eggs

These painted eggs were very easy to make. It’s something you can do in an hour tops.

Start with painting your wooden eggs with a black basecoat. I did a mixture of solid eggs, a few with a scalloped edge and others with a brush stroke. This paint has amazing coverage. Typically when using black paint on a lighter surface I have to do at least two coats and I only needed one on these.

The paint dries really fast! But you want to make sure they are completely dry before adding the top coats. They have two different top coats, the Shimmers and the Iridescent. The Magenta gives off a really fun bright purple color. You can see when it’s first applied it has a white glue look and then dries really bright.

The gold shimmer looks SO good against the black. I could see this look on a lot of different projects from Christmas ornaments, Halloween decor and more.

For the centerpiece, i placed them in a natural wood bowl with natural Excelsior .

You can find all the supplies needed for this project at your nearest Michaels Stores. Many of them allow you to order online and pick up curbside!
Whoah, that first photo stopped me in my tracks, Taryn. I didn’t know that Easter eggs could be this glamorous. But apparently, they can. Now I’m disappointed I have zero non-perishable eggs to decorate. Hmm, I wonder if my husband would mind if I painted him instead. Wait, I don’t have any metallic magenta paint–certainly not in a size suitable for painting a 6 footer. Oh that lucky man, he’s off the hook.
Well, Taryn, I hope you and your family are doing well in this inside/out world. Your creativity sure hasn’t skipped a beat. Thank you so much for sharing yet another intriguingly beautiful project.
Cheers, Ardith
Thanks so much for the kind words Ardith!
